I don't think it's a question of sex workers turning to drugs, it's a matter of people with a drug lifestyle turning to sex work. If you have a woman with a lousy work record and poor education, it's a way to make good money.

I've danced at two clubs. The first was a fairly classy place, mostly a businessman/lawyer clientele. A lot of the dancers were students. I didn't see a lot of drug use there.

The second place was more low rent. Most of the women used drugs, which is why I didn't last long there, as I was in recovery then.

The idea you get from the media that sex workers are all druggies because they feel guilty or degraded by their work is bullshit. I'm sure there are some of whom that is true, but it's not pervasive, in my experience.
