Candon Dahle, a former pitcher for the Brigham Young University baseball team, reached a plea deal with prosecutors today in Utah where he pled guilty to two counts of "felonious injury to a child". He received ten years probation and will not have to register as a sex offender.
Dahle, from the age of 12 until 18, regularly sexually molested a girl in his neighborhood from the time she was seven years old until she was 12.
At his sentencing hearing, the judge noted that he'd received hundreds of letters from the congregation of Dahle's Latter Day Saints (Mormon) church, all of them describing him as a fine upstanding member of their church
Dahle was dismissed from the BYU baseball team as a result of the charges, his plea arrangement allows him to pursue his dream of becoming a Major League Baseball pitcher.
His victim is reportedly dealing with bulimia issues.
