Hey all.

I use HTML tags in my stories (as I thought I should, according to the faq's & submission guidelines) - I use italics a lot to signify characters' thoughts.

Does anyone have any experience in doing this and does it affect the time it takes to have your story submitted?

I am fortunate enough that after my first submission, I haven't had a reject, but it still seems to take a very long time for my stories to be put up.

Any comments, observationjs, suggestions welcome.

No, using html tags doesn't add any time to a submission acceptance (I used them in just about every story I have).

The quickest way to get a story in is to copy and paste. From what I've heard, it's taking around a week right now for stories to get approved. Laurel's been busy getting all the monthly awards/category nominations done so that she could get the year end awards going.

Contest entries will often go up the next day, as they give those stories preference to make sure that they get the maximum amount of exposure for the contest - give the authors as much time as possible to garner the votes needed to be eligible.

And, sometimes, I think if you've been an author for a long time, and they know you don't tend to try to get around the rules, etc., your stories will start getting posted quicker because they don't have to go over them with a fine-toothed comb, but I have no evidence of that, so don't quote me.

Patience, grasshopper. ;)

Many thanks, cloudy!

I do actually c&p. Figured it would be the most efficient way to submit.

And big kissies for my gut-busting guffaw - "grasshopper".

I've been posting for two years now and it is now taking me 8-10 days to get a story posted...

that's why I said I have no evidence of it, but most of the time, my work goes through without even a single view.

It actually referred to one of those "you had to be there" moments.

A nickname I've recently acquired is "asshopper".

Hey Darkside! I am a fan of your moon. ;)

Two more authours I have to read. :)

I've only had 6 stories go up yet, but the fifth one (From Helen With Love) went up with no views.
And the last two took just under a week to go up.

I'm a newbie so this thread has helped me too, so thank you!

I've submitted 3 stories and 2 poems thus far that are awaiting approval. Do you all think I should wait for those to go through before I submit more or should I go ahead and add others to the queue? I have one story that's nearing completion and a couple more poems in my head that I was thinking about getting out today or tomorrow...
