Formatting Drift

I use a bit of the formatting options available - italic, bold, center and so forth.

Following the great confusion a fortnight ago, I note that a lot of these have somehow, I don't know, 'lapsed'? What was italic and centred is now non-italic and left-justified.

I guess I can go back and resubmit, but has anybody else noticed this?

Hmmm, nope, a new one of mine just came up and it looks fine.

Take a look, I used <center><i><b><u>, sometimes in the same line. You might want to go back and make sure you closed all the tags you opened.

The thing is, these are older stories which showed up for a long time as intended. I happened to look at one of them and everything had changed. I looked at more and saw the same pattern.

I mostly use italics, and not that many. I did go back to an old story where I used centering and italics near the beginning of the story, and it is still formatted as intended.

How old and which story? I have never seen indenting here at Lit. And I've been here since 2004 despite what my join date says.

Penny, I just took a look at your Feather stories... in the one that is left justified you might have left out the center tags. All the other, I looked at have them there.

To look at what HTML code is produced/stored for your story, right click and then click on inspect. A pane will open to the right and you and drill down to see the html there. In the left pane click on the text and it will highlight the stuff in the right.

Interesting and many thanks. I didn't know one could do that.

I see that, in one typical case, the line which must have been between the HTML 'centers' is now outside, which of course would make it left-justified, not centred as it should be.

Is it possible for me to do my own edit? I don't want to mess things up, but this could be a quick and easy fix.

No. An edit is an edit, and has to go through Laurel.

If the HTML in your originals is still correct, then you can just resubmit your originals as edits.
