Just view these stats. I bolded the stat of great interest. So these deaths of non-smokers are caused by smokers. If Politicians want to save lives, control tobacco.

Cigarette smoking causes about 1 of every 5 deaths in the United States each year. Cigarette smoking is estimated to cause the following:

443,000 deaths annually (including deaths from secondhand smoke)
49,400 deaths per year from secondhand smoke exposure
269,655 deaths annually among men
173,940 deaths annually among women

Should there be a constitutional amendment protecting people's right to keep and bear cigarettes?

How are these stats contributed to 2nd hand smoking? Carbon monoxide from cars is more likely.

What?

First of all, the premise, that polititions would want to "save lives" is absurd.
Secondly, the stats that you post are ridiculous, 49,000 people die of second hand smoke? This has been debunked numerous times.

Thirdly, do you have any idea of how much revenue the politition/whores derive from tobacco sales? Let me educate you, the government makes about $2.50 to 3.00 a pack, the tobacco company makes about $.30 per pack.
If you still have the ability to reason, what in the world would make you think that the polititions, of all people, would want to "control tobacco".
For God's sake man, they already control tobacco. Did you just fall of the turnip truck?

Tobacco is one of the greatest revenue producers that the government has. Don't look for the government to restrict tobacco. Look for them to raise the "sin taxes" upon it. They will prey upon people who are addicted to it.

Nope. Not at all. What makes you think that?
You pointed at tobacco and asked why it isn't subjected to the same concern over it's legality as firearms.

I did the same.

You said no, it shouldn't be subjected to the same concern over it's legality as firearms. Unless it's a specific concern over it's legality that you agree with.

I am not actually advocating tobacco control :)

My OP made that obvious. But the Politicians are telling us they want to save the lives of children by passing yet several more gun laws. If they want to focus on life saving, they should look to tobacco.

But they won't. Tobacco is a cash crop.

I'm a non smoker By the way. I'ts just that I still retain the ability to judge the criminal behavior of our politicions.

OK, you and I don't have much to quarrel about. I stand by my assertion that, the last thing that polititions are concerned with, is saving lives.

The current crop of polititions, Democrat and yes, Republicans too, have devolved into a corrupt enterprise, closely resembling organized crime, (mafia).

I made no assertion in this thread. See my response in post 14

I merely pondered aloud why Politicians are not cracking down on tobacco. Knowing the Politicians are trying to save lives caused by gun deaths, they can save many more by focusing on tobacco.

Man, if people couldn't bring a gun anywhere they can't smoke, I'd be thrilled. How about we tax guns like we tax cigarettes, too? How about we make it a crime to buy a gun that you let a minor use? Why don't we limit the use of guns in media as much as we do cigarettes and smoking? It may not be official, but you better believe it's there.

Gun nuts don't get that everything you can compare a gun to is already better controlled than guns. You're just being whiny little babies about your penis replacements.

You're a true Liberal, right?
