Every afternoon between 4.00pm and 7.00pm my ADSL slows to a crawl. My guess is a huge swarth of Portuguese teenagers are stoking up on Literotica ready for the night. But as far as I know, there is only Lauren (silent despite the Mourinho debacle) and me in Portugal. Are there really thousands of Portuguese lurkers clogging the bandwidth?

Questions:
1) Where are you from?
2) Where would you like to be from?
3) What nationality makes for the best lover?
4) Lurkers please reply as Lurker 1..., 2..., get the idea

1) I've always been European since I first realised the UK was an island.
2) Portugal, I'd liked to have grown in a profoundly religious atmosphere like Braga or Lamego yet still have been able to step outside the frame.
3) Portuguese - I could write 10k words on this so don't get me started.
4) I lurk because I have ADSL - no... not the one with spots.

America was English, French, Dutch, and Spanish territories when my ancestors arrived here. And my ancestors were citizens of Britain, France, Spain, and the Netherlands when they came. So they werent immigrants.

They were no more immigrants than I am if I move to Puerto Rico or Guam or Alaska or Texas. And they werent immigrants when their respective territories were consolidated with the United States.

An immigrant is someone who changes allegience from one nation to another.

You're all immigrants to me, and illegal ones, at that. ;)

Questions:
1) Where are you from? NY, US
2) Where would you like to be from? NY, US I happen to have an acre or two of God's own country right here outside my window.
3) What nationality makes for the best lover? No idea.
4) Lurkers please reply as Lurker 1..., 2..., get the idea I'm not good at lurking. I have difficulty keeping my mouth shut. There are only a few people I really refrain from replying to.

I do hope it has dried out since Easter, we travelled quite extensively in NYS and everywhere seemed sodden, stark black trees against grey hillsides though I imagine this time of year to be quite different.

Questions:
1) Where are you from?
Only my mother knows for sure and she ain't telling. I was born in PA. (Don't ask it was wartime and my dad's ship was in the navel yards for repairs) I was raised in N. Louisiana.

2) Where would you like to be from?
As far from a couple of ex wives as possible. Actually i get along with one fairly well over a large distance and the other is.... ?? I live in E. Texas and I'm happy enough there.

3) What nationality makes for the best lover?
There's a joke about this but I'll leave it alone as most have probably aready heard it.

4) Lurkers please reply as Lurker 1..., 2..., get the idea.
Sorry, this surely doesn't apply to me.

1) Where are you from?

I was born in Germany. My parents were Canadian and I was born on a Canadian Air Force Base so my citizenship is Canadian.

2) Where would you like to be from?

Everybody likes Canadians, except other Canadians, especially if you're from Toronto, so I have no problems being from here.

3) What nationality makes for the best lover?

Canadians. ;)

cloudy-
I am acutely aware of the fact that your ancestors preceeded the arrival of mine in North America by 10,000-odd years. Thanks to Dee Brown (Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee, of course), Evan S. Connell (Son of The Morning Star), Hampton Sides (Blood and Thunder), Steven Ambrose (Crazy Horse and Custer), Nathaniel Philbrick (Mayflower) and others I am also thoroughly cognizant of the genocide that occurred. My only defense (and it is a mild one) is that my ancestors were not directly involved (as best I can tell).

On the other hand, I do have some Southern forbears (who were transgressors, though I believe not of the worst variety). Southern heritage (with its well-documented internal conflicts- see Ed Ball's Slaves In The Family) does impart one with an acquaintance of the concept that, "The only causes worth fighting for are losing ones."

And exactly how many tribes were there? ONE, your's?

I dont think so.

I'm Injun, too. Lemme tell you bout Injuns. A lot of them were tickled shitless to adopt modern ways of living, and thought their forest cousins were silly fools to sleep anywhere but in a nice comfy bed. Or eat a snake in preference to a beef steak.

1) I am Canadian
2) I would like to move back to Scotland someday. It just feels like home.
3) I think I need a larger sampling to answer this question effectively. Anyone interested in helping me with this research please feel free to contact me anytime...:D
4) I don't want to blow my cover ;)

Questions:
1) Where are you from? SE Ohio, USA now transplanted to Iowa (of all places. Good God) My ancestry is predominately English and Scots-Irish.

2) Where would you like to be from? some tropical paradise in the Pacific. In fact, I'd like to be there right now.

3) What nationality makes for the best lover? In my experience (and I've had a fair sampling), American men. I do have to say that the Canadian fellow who kept me from freezing to death on a camping trip in upstate NY did a right fine job :) I've got some very fond memories of an Afghan gentleman as well. Hubby is German and (Asian) Indian -- if I had any complaints, I wouldn't have married him!

1) Where are you from?
Hyderabad, India

2) Where would you like to be from?
Let's just say I'm trying to move away from here...

3) What nationality makes for the best lover?
No idea. Haven't sampled.

4) Lurkers please reply as Lurker 1..., 2..., get the idea
What does this mean?

Nowhere in his post did Neon use the word 'immigrant'. He said 'foreigner' in his title, but that's all. Further on he used the word 'nationality'.

Now go back and answer again.

;)

Questions:
1) Where are you from? UK, East of England born and bred, moved to the south of England 24 years ago, been here ever since. I am NOT European. ;)
2) Where would you like to be from? I'm quite happy to be English - whatever that means. We are, after all, a nation of mongrels ourselves. The only true Britons are the ones in Wales who can trace their heritage back to when the Ancient Britons were chased westwards by the invaders.
3) What nationality makes for the best lover? in my case, American, 'cos that's where my wife is from. Did you really expect me to say anything else??
4) Lurkers please reply as Lurker 1..., 2..., get the idea. I lurk because I love this place and the people who lurk here.

:D ;) :nana:  :) :rose:

You foreigners with your hats and your green cards and your American flags. Go back to Norway, hippies!

Give us a break. This is a light hearted thread, let's try and keep it that way. If you read Cloudy's post again, she 'winked' at the end.

Do you EVER smile, find anything humorous?

Was thinkin' that myself Mat.

1: Canadian born, and lived here all my life save one year in Louisiana.
2: I like it here :) It'd like to visit Europe, but I think I'll always want to live in Canada.
3: Um.. my girlfriend :D

Turtle Island. I'm a mongrel and somewhat of a polyglot. Some of my ancestors drove the Yengees from this place with the help of the winter of 1715, some of them settled the area around Palermo when they were giving out plots of land up here to vets of the Revolution. One of them, my daughter tells me, was a space alien. She says that explains a lot, but I am not sure that it does. For a space alien, by Jesus, my grandmother had smashing legs. She was a flapper and they showed; I have pictures. My ancestors were smugglers, drill sergeants, farm women, teachers, bureaucrats, and hunters.

They tell me Thaddeus came here to Turtle Island from Wales, but I thought the name was Norman French. Could be both, I daresay.

I'm practically in Canada already. I could handle that; I like Canada. I could handle staying on here, too. I dug the Grand Duchy, I was overjoyed with Alaska, especially in the company of a Yupik woman I met there. I often thought, for a while, how fine it might be to retire to the Dominican Republic or Belize or Costa Rica. There seem to be fine people wherever I travel. But I have no strong emotional attachment to nations, only to particular pieces of local ground.

3
I have the right to refuse to answer on the ground that I may not be required to incriminate myself.

I am number 11.

Not obvious in the Welsh geneologies, more likely Norman French. Patron Saint of Forgotten Causes. Apt?

1) Where are you from?

Stockholm, Sweden.

2) Where would you like to be from?

Somewhere else than Stockholm, Sweden. Because that would mean that since I'm there now, I would have actually gone somewhere.

3) What nationality makes for the best lover?

Best I ever boinked was Scottish. But since I only boinked one, that's hardly statistical certainty. So I need to boink more Scots, to be sure.

I do become attached to causes no one much worries about any more. As did my parents, each in their way. My line is ending, now; even my sibs are childless. We shall all be forgotten in a while.

Sorry, weird mood. :D
