I am intrigued when I read incest stories (that is my preference) and there is rape in the "story" that people get all up in arms about it. Yet there is site after site of rape/forced videos which I am sure is acting and yet the "written" word gets all people all up in arms. I just can't comprehend that. If you are writing it and not doing it, what is the harm? Someone please tell me.

Yes I have received my fair share of hardcore threats via "Anonymous" when I've submitted a story that contained this subject. Of course I file under "So what". My stories have headers with the contents explained.

Well if there is rape in the incest story then its a two fold issue.

One there is a section for rape here called non consent. There is a little bit of a game here where the site tries to pretend they do not allow rape, but....uh...non consent?

So bottom line there is a section for people who are into those stories. For people who are not it is upsetting to find it out of its area. Same for incest. Put incest in a erotic couplings story people are pissed. If they want incest they will read there, if they want rape they head to non con.

The second point is that despite how strange the incest kink is the crowd there is a fun crowd and the fantasies there are just that. Over 18 consensual incest. You stick rape in there it ruins there fantasy. Hard to believe but incest is kind of a "loving category" and rape also brings to mind what incest really is in real life.

By rights the author should post a warning that the story contains non consent so readers can decide if they want to venture into it. Its called a courtesy.

Then if you're giving fair warning the readers shouldn't complain too much.

But because its something that has a high "squick" factor I think when rape is factored into a story outside its Noncon/reluctance realm people do get pissed off.

Its a fine line because if its a serious story and the rape fits.... But lit is also escapism for many and they enjoy their specific kink and while enjoying they get that tossed at them it can cause a knee jerk reaction.

Mine is mainly blackmail nonconsent. I think it's only right to put it in a header that your nonconsent story contains incest. I think certain authors put their stories in more popular categories just to get more reads. This of course brings about the possibility of annoying certain segments of your audience. Although that bloke/woman Anonymous is EASILY offended...so what are they doing reading incest or nonconsent...those naughty hypocrites!

Personally I see blackmail as more reluctance, technically they have a choice, but not overly fond of it.

There is a joke of a rule here not to allow flat out rape that is worded, "but if it fits the story" well what else would fit in a non consent section?

Now what is ironic is far worse happens in the cesspool of loving wives than happens in non con.

My husband writes here and has a lot of incest stories and yes, he gets all the "this story is sick, you're sick, fuck off...." and.....what are you reading there for? I mentioned I don't like non con, therefore you do not see me there.

He wrote a rape scene in a series that very much fit the story(it was a very dark series to begin with) and even though he did put a warning in the chapter prior's closing note and the opening note of the chapter he took a nasty beating on it.

People read, but they don't read if that makes sense.
