For those who want to know where I have been

Hi Everyone....
much has changed and I ahve been incredibly ill these many weeks... I am now on short term disability as they try to figure out why I cant breath and cant hear etc etc etc....its has been a harrowing two weeks with trips to the ER in anaphylaxis from meds meant to make me better....breathing treatments... anti biotics and In one week my list of doctors is now at 9! ENT, Pulminologists, Internal Medicine and next week Neurology and Cardiology will be pulled into the mix as all systems are over wrought...
So I am around just very ill... sleeping alot these days...

I'll let ya'll know if you want... other wise I'll be around in a few weeks...

I can sympathize a bit, having added a Pulmonologist to my doctor list (of GP & Neurologist) in hte last year or so .......... although my troubles aren't to the degree it sounds like you're experiencing ......... make 'em do right by you!!!

update

still terribly ill.
more problems... axes drving through my head and neck... very bad stomach pain that comes in waves. Vasal-vagal episodes that knock me on my ass for long stretches of time. Sky rocketing blood pressure then bottoming out...

And on top of all that... I had to finish moving out of my apartment this past weekend. It took 4 percoset to finally allow me to walk with out screaming out in agony as I though the side of my head would explode.

I see three doctors this week and two next week.

Damnit.

My illness went critical this past week. I was in the Emergency Room for many hours being given morphine to control the pain in my head. I was taken into surgery that morning, where they operated on my ear. It was a very difficult time. I am still very ill, but I am home and resting on morphine and antibiotics. It will be a few more weeks and the possibility of another surgery on my ear if this treatment doesnt work.

So far, I felt better for only one day, and now I am close to what I was before... my head hurts all the time. I am sick to my stomach, vomiting, (and I ahve anti nausea meds out the wazzoo)and wracked with too much pain that I cannot escape. I pray that the medicines will kick in soon. I am seeing two of the best doctors in the entire country. If they cant fix me it cant be fixed. They seem confident, but I am less so. I have mastoiditis... a acute ear infection that went into the bones of my skull. The doctor said that in only a couple of more days it would have gone into my brain. That would have been really bad. We are all hoping the medicines work and they dont have to operate again.

What I hate about all of this is I told my doctor (whom is no longer my doctor!!!!) that my ear was bugging me TWO MONTHS Ago. I kept telling her, look even though I have severe bronchitis and your are treating that, its my ear! Please Look at my ear! She would look and say well I dont see any fluid..... and ignore it. I went deaf in my ear 6 weeks ago. I begged please... I know I cant stop coughing, but I cant freaking hear!
After many mistakes in meds and diagnoses several trips to various doctors, 4 trips to the ER being yanked out of work because I was fainting and falling on my ass all the time etc etc etc... I fired my doctor, and went to Johns Hopkins.
what took my former doc 6 weeks to NOT Treat let alone diagnose they did in two days. They put me on another string of antibiotics and cough suppresants percosets and sent me for a CT... FUCK ME!!! the side of my head was mishapen, I told them that two weeks before...... ignored... the bones of my skull were swelling internally and externally and was spreading to the right side of my head. I was suffering complex migraine symptoms and beginning to lose the vision in my left eye. day four it went critical... I couldnt walk, I couldnt drink, couldnt seen anything in my left eye that wasn't directly in front of me, vomiting, with several vasal-vago episodes that had me trembling on the ground.... and that was just the beginning....

They brought in a Neuro-Otologist... an uber ENT (Ear nose and throat doc...and he just about had a cow when he saw me and all the tests and records that had been ignored by the other doctor at another hospital. He rushed me into surgery and it took him two hours to clean out the ear enough to even thing about getting medicine into it! I was discharged the next day, and while I felt better for the Migraine having gone away (you try over a month of a migraine!) I am still major ill. He did say quite cleary if this doesnt clear up the infection (he will give it five days) he will schedule for a mastoidectomy. If I recall it correctly, that means he will cut uopen my head and scrape out the interior of my bones that line the back of my skull beind my ear in order remove all the infection.

It really fucking sucks.

I wish She had just fucking listened to me in the first place. I HATE AETNA!!!! You could literally fucking die before they get all their MANDATORY paper work in order....


Just a note my friends.... dont ignore problems with your ears. Decongestants will usually work but iof they dont... dont suck it up and try to move gamely on... dont wait... get it checked and if the fucking doc doesnt beleive you find another and another until they really do LOOK not just poke around in your eear canal. We still dont know if I will have my hearing back. And Being a trained operatic singer.......... so much for that... if you cant hear you cant hold a note. Beleive me I have tried and cried my eyes out when I couldnt even find the note let alone hold it on key...

Okay---- morphine is fun.... makes me ramble like a crazxy woman....

Your news brought tears to my eyes. I can only imagine what you have gone through but my thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope someone sees your post and they remember it when they need to.

You MUST be an advocate for your own health care. There are good doctors and bad doctors and hurried and worried doctors. They are all human. You must make them listen and if they won't, move on. I've dealt with this a couple times in my life but never to this extent.
