For those who publish artwork ….

I like to include a bit of text with my artwork submissions. The one I’m currently preparing to submit has more text than I have previously included, but it is in no way a story. Is there a word/character count limit for text accompanying artwork?

There's no limit. Usually, the minimum word length for a story is 750 words, but there's no upper limit. Poetry can be less than 750 words, so I expect art-text can be less too.
