The Ship Inn on Piel Island, a remote location off the coast of England, near Barrow-in-Furness, is looking for someone to take the helm.

Taking the helm, in this case, means a few different things. The unique pub, which sits alone on the 50-acre island, save for the ruins of the fourteenth-century Piel Castle, is seeking a landlord, caretaker, and monarch. While the small island is reachable by ferry, the ferry only runs from April to September. It can also be reached via guided walks, weather permitting.

Sounds like a job my wife and I would love except for one thing, and it's a biggy. You'd have to put up with tourists and both of us have worked in the tourism trade. Tourists, as a whole, are idiots. It's as if they take their brains out and pack it away with any and all common sense.

that wont be for a few weeks, the jocks have booked all the hotels in Carlisle on NYE (tomorrow) so allowing for the effects of covid, and the events of last year when the cumbrians didnt want tourists and resulted to damaging cars and burning road blocks, the jocks like wise retreating into their dour dank caves.... gould be inyeresting in carlisle tomorrow night.
