For the people that knew Oxalis

Please accept my apology for my comment made on the deceased “Oxalis”. First, I didn’t know he had passed away and somehow I had found an old poem written, and thought it was new. Either way, it is very unlike me to use such words and maybe you can tell by all the other reviews that I have written. I do believe in honesty and not playing anonymous on these sites. No, I didn’t like his poem but I should’ve stated it in better terms. But still, my comment was inappropriate and for that, I apologize. Mainly because I didn’t know that a certain amount of people on here were very close to him. And, I do respect that.

I try very hard on these sites to not get too attached to people because of this simple reason. Either death or the fear of losing touch with someone that I have bonded with. I have been there, and for that I would appreciate if you would accept my apology. I am one to humble myself when I know I’ve done wrong. This is not for pity. But to help you understand where I’m coming from.

Sincerely, Dana

No need to apologize, Dana. I didn't see your comment, but I don't think any of us should censor honest feelings about poems. He was a very dear friend of mine and I feel comfortable saying he would agree with that.

You should check out more of his stuff though. Much of it is posted under the name smithpeter (though he used a few other names here as well) or read annaswirls "Mirror Will Be Washed" thread that showcases a lot of his stuff. He is definitely an acquired taste--lots of people find his writing too weird at first, but he really was--in a word--brilliant. He grows on you. :)

Uh, well, he would have had a fit about the negative comment. He fussed constantly about that. lol
Dana, I didn't read the comment. When I have something to say that's less than praise, then I always try to make the criticism as constructive as possible. I hope yours was. :)

We poets are fragile. We get over NOTHING! lol I freak out over the slightest comment. "What do you mean it was brilliant? Not extraordinarily brilliant? You don't want to name your first born after the title? What's wrong with Machiavellian Jones?!"

DanaQt,
I am sorry for making you feel unwelcome. That was never my intent, so I hope you will accept my sincere apology, it is heartfelt, and as you know, I did not send you anonymous, it was a PM with my name on it, I agree with you about people being hateful and anonymous.

The others are right though, check out some of his other work, as with any poet, quality and subject vary with mood and intent, Oxalis, in my opinion, was his wildest incarnation and you found that name first, probably off the most read list I would guess... :)

welcome to LIt forum, Dana
