Indeed. 
I keep my radio on a talk channel, which has half-hour news updates. It seemes every time there's a mention of the cyclone hit, the death toll has gone up by a few hundred.
While I am glad to live in a country with better warning and recovery systems, my heart goes out to those in other parts of the world who are not as fortunate.
