For the life of me

Sit where you're comfortable, at your computer or in a chair, pen poised over paper. Music on or off; personal preference. Have something to drink there so if you get thirsty you don't have to get up in the middle of writing (or thinking through writing) something kinky.

Begin to write. Just start. Write a fantasy that makes you hot or an account of something wild that you've done.

Don't edit as you write.
Don't correct your grammar or spelling or sentence length.
Just let the words flow.

AFTER the whole thing is written, THEN go back and begin to clean it up.

The easiest thing to write is something that you already know, a fantasy that makes you hot, gets you wet, gets you off... or something you've actually done and still remember with moist heat between your legs and slowly peaking nipples.

You can't write until you get started. Just do it.

writers block

sometimes if you just leave it and go on to something else, you will get an idea to use.

i jot down lots of things and see if i can use them in my story and kind of play connect the dots with them.

All these suggestions are good. A trick I use sometimes when I just can't get a great idea is to sit and ask myself "What if" questions.

What if I were twenty one and good looking?

What if I sat on a plane next to a hot looking nymphomaniac?

What if ...

you get the idea.

Curing Writer's Block

If you can't start, then I love the suggestions you've been given. :D

If you are in the middle of something and don't know where to go:

  • 1). Do you have choices? Then choose any choice and write, or write all of the choices, then choose the one that works best on the rewrite.

    2). I don't have any choices:

    • A). Then you need a structure, an outline, scenes, a beat breakdown--whatever you want to call it. You need a "clothesline" before you can hang up the wash. You need to know where you are going.

B). Cym's first sugg. Write 'free association' with no structure at all--just write anything about your character.

C). Do you know what your character wants?
    [/list=A]

        • 1). Yes

          • a.) the character already has it (in which case, you're done).
b.) they don't have it (then put more things in the way, or let them have it now)

        • 2). No -- You have a real problem. You need to decide what your character wants, then outline how they at first don't get it, then how they get it; hopefully, not the way we (the readers) expect.
    -------------------------------------------------------------

To paraphrase Cym: It is time to write, not re-write.

    Write front-to-back, then re-write front-to-back.

I hope this stuff helps. If not, can you give some more information?

    - Judo

PS - I tried 3 different ways, but I could not get this post to accept the indentation that I intended for the above outline. Sorry. I hope you can follow it in it's above form. Does anyone know how to get the posts to indent???

PPS - I tried the "VB list" coding. Doesn't work. Doesn't accept nestings like an outline needs. Jesus! Can't we post outlines??

PPPS - Well, it took guessing with the VB list crap, but i finally got it looking something like an outline. Jeez! What a pain!
