I know that I'm looking forward to this!!

*FYI, in case you don't know it, H2G2 is short for "Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy"*

AAA!!!

::hops around excitedly::

.. haha, i just said to myself "oooh, i have to post this on lit" then remembered I found it here via this thread and you.... hahaha.

thanks for the heads up!

The date is marked on my calendar... well, in my calendar in Outlook, lol. I don't have a paper 2005 calendar yet.

OMG, it's actually getting done!! in 'Salmon of Doubt' there was mention made of its forthcoming release, but i thought that because of the tragedy the project had been stopped. i'm SOO excited i need to go grab my towel!!! :p

I'm all over that. I'll take off work and kill some small children in the neighborhood all while robbing senior citizens of their social security checks in order to see it when it comes out. Hitchhikers is the funniest damn series of SciFi ever.

don't panic or forget your towel!

For those that are interested, Amazon.com is streaming the world premiere of the NEw full length trailer (not the teaser above) on thier homepage.

I'm so damn ready for this one... I tried to call the local cineplex to see if I could pre-order opening night tickets and they said not yet. GGGRRRRRRrrrrrrrrr... There's at least one poster here who keeps a copy of the Guide and a towel in her car at all times. She's had a whole 3 accidents since she's been driving (not gonna tell you how long; suffice to say she's not a newber behind the wheel.) and each time it happened when the Guide was taken out of the car for some reason. Coincidence? I think not.

kicking the spell checker in the ass and knocking the hyphen out of "coincidence".

It's a real version!

If you have a web enabled cell phone or PDA, and LOVE H2G2, you will love this.

T he BBC have relaunched the long-shelved h2g2 Mobile service. The new version of the popular community website allows access to the 7000+ and growing edited guide entries from PDAs, and smartphones. H2g2 had a WAP service back in 2001, aptly named "h2g2 on the Move", but was cancelled when the company faced financial trouble and was purchased by the BBC.

It is international, with contributors from 85 countries.

As the BBC's Press Release states:

Thirty years after Douglas Adams created a mobile guide to Life, the Universe and Everything, the BBC has launched what could truly be described as the world's first real life mobile Hitchhiker's Guide.

A babbling book describing Babel Fish or Vogon Poetry it may not be, but users with the latest smart phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs) can now access more than 7,000 edited articles from the BBC's h2g2 site (bbc.co.uk/h2g2) while on the move.

Covering everything from Aardvark to ZZZ the BBC's Guide provides articles from h2g2 researchers around the world, conveniently sorted into the categories of Life (animals, plants, humans), the Universe (geography and space) and Everything (everything else).

To access the service from an appropriate mobile device, users should type in www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/pda/

And it's not just for mobile users, you can access it via normal web browsers too..
You can become a part of h2g2 and start writing entries by registering with the website - www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/

The first thing that came to my mind when reading the letters "H2G2" was this Virus that was send to laboratorys all around the world that killd some million people in the 50's.

After looking about it, it's named "H2N2". :D

I had never heard of "h2g2" before I saw the commercial for the movie.....
If everyone here likes it so much then I guess it's a "classic" :D.

yeah, you could say that. or, if you wanted to be more thorough, you could say that it is an all-encompasing answer-book containing stories which i can only describe as parables inspired by some artistic eros channeled through Douglas Adams. i'd reccomend that you read the books, even if you do see the movie first. they're pretty darn good.

It only give you the The Answer to the Great Question of Life, the Universe and Everything! That alone makes it worth while.

From what I remember, the movie won't be out in Denmark before in August, so I'm happy that it's out in London, when I'm there the last weekend in May! So watching it, is definately on my to do list while I'm there!

Psh, I already know those, no sale.

It, my uninitiated friend, and if you are so smart, then tell us the question!
the question? I dunno what you mean, I can tell you the answer though, it's simple enough. The meaning of life is to stay alive and be happy, quite a simple answer that people really tend to stress too much about.

Of course it can get a bit more complex that than if you start involving society, but whatever.

lol... the ultimate answer is 42.

It is impossible for both the ultimate answer and the ultimate question to be known at the same time in the same universe. If it happened, the universe would disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarrely inexplicable. It might have already happened. ;)
