For the Dom/me's...Military Service and its effect on You

Something in a thread today sparked an interest in me. I've had these discussions with my Sir before, but i think it would be an interesting line of discussion to find out how military service has affected other Dom/mes (i, of course, wouldn't limit this to the male gender, one never knows how many of our Dommes have served).

Some of the things that crossed my mind:

Military service is not all about command...

Bootcamp being quite the submission exercise....

Care to elaborate on your experiences and how they relate to your life as a Dom/me today?

I was in Military service and had lots of fun with my friends during my time In the army.

Some of the training methods used during bootcamp I actually have used with mixed success on slaves and submissives.

I spent 4 years in the Marines. You learn submission as a recruit, and a certain amount of masocism. As an NCO, you become dominant and sadistic. I feel pretty well-rounded!

Since I assume, yes, big assumption here, that I am the reason this thread started for the big part, I will now respond.

First in order. Bootcamp is both submission and dominance. Why? Because you are broken down, pushed to excel, and then some of U/us ascend to holding a leadership position even in bootcamp.


NO, military is not all about command, and then again yes it is. There is always someone higher ranking than you that you must answer too. It's structure is even Top to bottom. There are different areas of the military that I'm sure are more lax. BUt, in My area of expertise, there was no such thing as no command. I happened to just slip into the role that allowed Me to take command. Eventually within a year or two I went on to go to OTS.

I still got out in the trenches with My troops and wouldn't have it any other way. BUt this area was a unique one of course. A full year and a half in the pipeline before you ever get to a duty station.

To each that has served, I seriously doubt that if You're Dom you cannot relate experiences that brought out that side in You.

I relate a lot to military service and sports. I am one hundred percent on the go all the time and I refuse to ever give in. I will break someone before they ever have a shot at Me. The mindfuck, aspect is My own special preference. To be able to know things and feel them before they are said and to turn the tables by reading tones in conversation and body language.

I agree it could go either way because of the initial bootcamp break down. But that's why there are those that follow and those that Lead. I just happen to be one of those that Lead. But I suppose it could have gone either way.
