Brian, and Kevin are writing yet another Trilogy for Dune. This time, it is set ten thousand years before the Prelude Trilogy.

Th Legends of Dune Trilogy are:

That's a cool idea, but not so sure if it's a good one. The prequel trilogy I liked better than a few of the original Dune books (God Emperor of Dune and all there after). Point is that now it's no longer Frank Herbert's writing, it's Kevin Anderson with Brian Herbert. It's like Chis Tolkien going off and writing Lord of the Rings books........it's close but just not the same. I'll buy `em though because I like the people involved. I'm willing to give it a fair shot.

Seriously. You bunch of blue-eyed, reincarnating, spice collecting weirdos.

A series needs an end man. This is what is infecting Sci-fi and fantasy literature, this need to turn everything into a never ending series with the same fucking characters infinitum ad nauseam.

I didn't like how they brought things into the Preludes, which seem out of place so early in Dune, like the No-Ship.

Funny how House Atredies and House Vernius have this close knit friendship... Then in Dune, House Vernius or Ix is hardly mentioned.

Dune doesn't have the same characters for every book...

I know. I've heard plenty about it. I love to quiz people on their passions, and Dune fans are easy to find. I know the books get set thousands of years apart from each other.

Man, I would normal not give a shit to people talking smack about Dune... I guess I'm just not in the mood for any bullshit today...Sorry.

If I made a post about Lord of the Rings, or Star Wars, would you talk smack about those too?

I agree with the Manatee. End it.

End Wheel of Time too. Make it all stop.

would David Eddings stop too? please? :)

He DID! There will be no more books in the Rivan Codex universe and the Elenium/Tamuli series ended decades ago.

Regina's Song is contemporary murder mystery that's totally unrelated to anything else the Eddings' have written before.

I'm afraid Brian and Kevin aren't as good as Frank.

Unfortunately, after the first three Dune books, not even Frank was as good as Frank. I never finished the fourth book and haven't even been tempted since.

Me either. God Emperor nearly melted my brain ...

I did pick up one of the subsequent ones and tried to read it, whatever the one on the Sisterhoods splitting....
I can't remember the title thats how awe inspiring that was.

Heretics of Dune?

I'm reading the last one now, chapterhouse dune. I'll be glad when it is finished. Dune was great, then the books got weak in a hurry.

1. Dune Chapterhouse was good. I have no idea how, but it was.

2. Sillyman is correct. I dislike these new Dune novels because I am a Dune fan. If the original author does not create it then what artistic right does it have to call itself Dune? The arts and those that fund the arts (business, government, or wealthy individuals) have always had a tricky relationship. Turning a collection of stories into a franchise makes money but isn't good for the art.

Next time you're at a book store, glance at the fantasy and sci-fi section. Imagine the self without any Star Wars, Star Trek, Dune, D&D inspired, etc. – for every one of those franchise books an original sci-fi/fantasy book was not sold. If new writers can't get a spot on the shelf these genres are going to become an incestuous.

It was either Heretics or Chapterhouse...

I just remember they went on and on and on about some learned woman, that when she took the water of life, she died...kinda...sorta...

Piers Anthony and the Xanth series...now there's one that *has* to stop. He's reached the stage where the puns are making my teeth ache.

The puns have been making my teeth ache since A Spell For Chameleon came out in 1977.

I'm still going to read the next one, and the one after that until he uses up all of the puns readers send him.

I like the Battletech series... Over 50 books... More then one writer... FASA the owners of Batletech games gave wriers the licensce to write the books.

Now Wizzkidz own Battletech, FASA solid out.

Strangely enough I do agree with you on that point. If the books are gonna come out, well if their ok reading after the first one then I'll get the others. If not, then there's no harm no foul. I still mainly read Clive Cussler's books anyway. He's just about the best there is. His latest, "Fire Ice" was lots of fun and I can't wait for the next Dirk Pitt book.

Try Orson Scott Card. He's worse. How many sequels to "Ender's Game" does the world need?
