Yeah I have seen pictures of full body armor for rangers made of kevlar and ceramics that covered just about the entire body but can't find a picture.

yep. I've warn it for rough terrain jumps and stuff. can't move well in it but it's not that heavey either.

I don't know that part. I know that there's at least 2 or 3 companies that we deal with, but there's probably more than that.

This has been an interesting hijack. Basically, it's supply and demand. There's a pretty high demand for it and not much of a supply.

Plus, it's good for its job.

Kevlar is a E.I.Dupont deNemours registered trademark for poly-para-phenylene terephthalamide. It is a chemical compound usually extruded as a fiber and woven into a sort-of fabric. It can also be molded or machined.

It is primarily know for having an extremely high ITS (initial tear strength) while maintaining a relatively high CTS (continued tear strength).

Bah I am not around for a day and Texan beats me to the definiton of Kevlar. My roommates dad works for DuPont and has a couple of spools of kevlar rope. One spool has rope about the width of wool yarn and the other is a little thinner then my pinky.

Not very thick at all but you can just about pull a car with it.
