I was watching Braveheart (yet again) on the networks the other night. Why did I see new footage? When I buy the movie on pay-per-view, or rent one, or go to the theater, am I getting an edited version? Is there a version for every venue? Is this a sleazy revenue generation vehicle for true fans of a flick? Just wondering. I know some of you know the answer. What is it?

If you rent the video, look for the unedited version. Because of ratings, some movies are cropped due to said rating and depending on the rating, what is cut and what is kept.

Of course in a couple years there will be a version called Full, unedited version. Then when sales slack a bit... Full Unedited Dirtectors Cut... then.... on and on.
I own four different versions of the Star Wars ones. And I don't even like them all that much.
