For many a terrified teenager

Despite what many think, they are about education. They take the time to educate you on all your BC options including abstinance, they help you understand how your body works. They are all and all a great orginization.

And not to start a whole hoopla. If you go to them pregnant they make sure to educate you on all your options there too.

And probably a lot of 20-somethings and others, Planned Parenthood has been the lifeboat in a sea of confusion and misinformation. They provide straight answers to people who need them. I have a very hard time condemning that.

Just wanted to say that without getting in the middle of the religious junk in the other thread...

Well spoken pls!

Planned Parenthood was where I went for my annuals before I had insurance. I also dragged several promiscuous friends there to learn about the risks of their behavior and the ins and outs of contraception (they had uber-religious parents and we attended a school that only taught abstinence). I can honestly say that Planned Parenthood saved one friend from contracting AIDS, after they convinced her to abstain while she sorted out why she was engaging in such risky sexual behaviour.

Just so you know, because it's clear you have no idea what you are talking about, Planned Parenthood does not provide abortions. They may refer you to someone who does, but they don't do them.

Here's a dime. Go buy a sense of humor.

I'm not trying to drag anything in here, but at some locations they do. Their office in downtown Pittsburgh is about a half block from mine and between the damn protesters sitting out there on occasion, the guard at the front door, and the metal detector located there, I'm pretty sure this office does.

I double checked on their website - and they do. Here's the link:

http://www.ppwp.org/ppwp/healthservices/abortion/

Just for the record - I am thoroughly disgusted that a woman would have to pass a guard and go through a medical detector just because there's a bunch of fucking morons out there who feel the need to impose their will on others.

This is wrong, in some cases. In many states, PP does provide abortions up to the 1st trimester.

Ahem. Considering who it was coming from, do you think ANYONE would have thought it was a joke? Come on now.

hehe...go fuck yourself.

I love the fact that your pretentious ass is being shot full of holes by people that actually know what they're talking about.

As soon as I said it I knew that someone somewhere was going to come up with a place where they did.

So what's this? You admitting you were wrong?

Answer: "Why yes, yes PC, it is. By Golly you're right."

That is really not the purpose of the organization, but okay. :)

Sorry, but wrong again. One of the main parts of PPFA's mission statement is their interest in providing comprehensive reproductive services to women in clinical settings. I used to work for the non-profit organization that, in addition to other work it did in women's reproductive issues, manufactured the patented manual device used for 1st trimester abortions by clinics all over the world, and PP was one of its biggest customers.

Yeah, I didn't really get her version when she said it. It's not really like I crusade around here all day for the rights of the unborn.

Ok...give the girl a break. She was just pointing out that it is not their sole purpose. I do know of PP locations that do not provide abortions. I also know that in my expriences with them they seek first and formost to educate women on ALL of their reproductive choices and to keep them in good reproductive health. I beleive that was the point this thread is NOT about abortion.

Thank you honey. And you're totally right. But there's no point arguing with them. :)

Who's arguing? I haven't disputed anything you said.

I just told you to lighten up.
