Ossictol--Fantasy RP

How about a little fantasy RP?
Setting: Small, busy coastal town (Ossictol); mixed races

Age: 392(25) years old
Height: 6'5
Weight: 196 lbs
Hair: Black with Silver tips
Eyes: Right eye: Red. Left eye: very pale Blue.
Skin: A normal, pink hue
Status: Secretly Bi. Unattached
Notable Features: Extensive tribal tattooing. His right arm, left leg, and back are covered. The pattern also extends over his neck and onto his cheeks. Spider eyes a rimmed with black, naturally, making him look as though he wears eyeliner, and occasionally giving him a perpetual look of tiredness. Scar on the left side of his face. Left ear has a notch near the tip. His undercut is high, and his hair is often tied back. When loose, it hangs to about his mid-back. Piercings: Mostly silver, some gold in ears. 3 rings in both brows. Lower, centered lip spike. 8 rings through both ears ~ 7 lining lower ear, 1 through upper cartilage. (PM me if you want a picture)

Down a dark back alley, he waits, eyeing the occasional female passerby. He tugs lightly at the collar of his shirt as a chilly breeze creeps it's way to his flesh. Spider waits patiently, hoping for someone to notice him. The night was going to be a cold one, and definately one that would be better spent in the warmth of someone's embrace. He shivered at the thought; it had been a very long time since his last, and oh, how he missed it!

Shaking that thought from his head, Spider makes his way towards the light of the street. He leans casually against the building beside him, and waits...

Character Bio:

Name: Jacklyn "Jacks" - last name is unknown even to her.
Race: Human as far as she knows, but she is planetouched.
Date of Birth: Exact day is unknown.
Age: 20 years old
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 130lbs
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Icy blue-green
Skin: Fair
Status: Straight, but potentially curious. Unattached.
Notable Features: Jacks' angelic features are exactly that - angelic. Though she is unaware, several generations ago one of her ancestors fell madly in love with a celestial being- and from that union, a planetouched was born. While her celestial ancestor is many generations removed, his presence still lingers. Something about her does, indeed, glow.
Brief History: Jacks grew up in an orphanage, never having the opportunity to experience a "real" family. However, to her, the other kids at the orphanage are her family - and although she has been on her own for quite some time now, she is still devoted to the children who have been left behind. She is a theif, though not of her own vices. She provides for her family - whatever they need, be it food, bandages, birthday presents.. Jacks, herself, lives quite modestly and is, in fact, the epitome of altruism.

The day was refreshingly tepid and Ossictol's market place was its normally bustling hive of productivity. 'Bustling,' of course, meant more distractions, more pockets to pick - and Jacks' agile fingers were on high alert for vulnerable coin purses or.. well.. anything. Now, don't go getting her all wrong - Jacks would never take more than her family needed - she's not in this business to lavish herself in fine jewelry and furs. On the contrary, she merely rogues about to provide for the children at the orphanage. Times are tough for everying but the upper castes - and they don't care about anyone but themselves, so, unfortunately, the orphans often go malnourished, depressed and uneducated. Jacks was in the same boat once..

And now she gives everything she has to the orphanage - her money, her free time. Unfortunately, her money and time simply aren't enough to provide for these kids she considers family - and she has resorted to 'borrowing' (as she calls it) from members of the upper castes.

So here she was again, wandering the market place in search of stray - or not so stray - valuables. Those icy eyes sparkled behind the tattered brown hood of her cloak - which draped over her modest, if not also tattered, pale green dress. Jacks didn't spot any particular easy targets - and the last thing she wanted to do was to bring attention to herself and get caught trying to get a hold of something. But then, she spotted the perfect target - a coin purse hanging precariously from a chord that was wrapped around the well-fed waist of a nobleman.

Cautiously and casually, the whispy-haired blonde made her way over to the amusingly round man who was furiously debating with a dealer over the price of a bolt of fine red silk. Jacks eased closer to him - dangerously close - as small digits expertly fiddled with the tie on the pouch. Her intention, her plan was to take only a few coins from the small leather bag and then vanish back into the crowds of market place.

Of course, today, things wouldn't go as planned. Just as Jacks was about to pull out the last tie, the angry nobleman slammed his fist on the dealer's wooden make-shift counter. Jacks flinched and pulled to hard, causing the whole pouch - which was quite hefty - to break away from the man's waist. Uh-oh..

By the time the angry round man had turned to see what had happened to his coin purse, Jacks was gone - running into the depths of the market place and leaving the coin purse behind. Glancing over her shoulder, she saw that he'd gathered his coins and was now pursuing her! Curse it all.. she swore at herself as she ducked behind a building, making a sharp turn into an alleyway.

Or that was the plan - and, of course, things weren't going as planned today. Instead of turning into the alleyway, she turned and ran into the tall man standing in the alleyway! Her small physique quite literally bounced off of his and caused her hood to fall. Her eyes were wide, and she stared, blinking at him for a moment. His appearance startled her almost as much as the impact had.

"Uh.. Excuse me," Jacks said, offering a slight nod in apology. It was obvious she was quite ready to bolt down the alleyway.

Spider takes a surprised step back and eyes the girl, almost angered at her clumsiness. However, such a startled gaze easily broke him, and he nodded with an affable smirk.

"You sure know how to start trouble," he replied smoothly as he glanced back at her path, noting an angered Noble on her trail. The aristocrat couldn't yet be seen, but without a doubt could be heard by just about everyone in town! The swarm of street-beings blocking him would buy just barely enough time for escape; Spider knew that from his own experiences. The young elf chuckles and stepped out of her way. "It's a dead end, but it should be dark enough to hide."

Already Spider could hear her pursuer closing in. His smirk disappeared, and he tilted his head to the side quickly, urging her on.

"Don't worry. I won't tell on you," he joked, winking his pale blue eye. Spider adjusts the circular sunglasses perched upon his nose and reclines nonchalantly against the same wall he had before, crossing his arms while working on his "innocent bystander" look, his bicolored gaze falling to the pavement. "Hurry before he finds you."

"You sure know how to start trouble," he finally said to her, and she watched as he looked behind her from where she came from. She turned to see what he was looking at, fearing that her pursuer had closed the gap between them. She breathed a sigh of relief when she didn't spot him - however, he could be heard..

"I assure you, it's not a habit of mine," she said, glancing over her shoulder once more. The young elf chuckled and stepped out of her way.

"It's a dead end, but it should be dark enough to hide," he told her.

Dead end, eh? Way to go, Jacks.. she thought, mentally scolding herself. It wasn't every day she got to run away from angry nobleman, and she didn't know the layout of the city as well as she probably should. She stepped further into the alley as he motioned for her to. The nobleman's angry cries grew louder.

"Don't worry. I won't tell on you," he joked, winking at her, causing her to blush profusely. Jacks pulled her hood up as she looked at the tall elf one last time before slipping into the shadows. "Hurry before he finds you," he urged her. Jacks wasn't sure if she could trust him, but at this point, she really didn't have much of a choice.

"Thanks.. I.. I owe you one," she said, vanishing into the shadowy depths of the alley. Jacks' heart was thudding against her chest as she crouched down behind several large barrels. Closing her eyes, she prayed to the gods in an attempt to wish the angry man away.

"You there!"

Spider figured the girl had found some sort of cover; with her hood up, she could easily blend in with the shadows. She should be safe, so long as he could ward off the hefty aristocrat. He pointed ingenuously to his chest

The noble nodded. "Silverbolt, correct? You have your little bandits scouting the town for riches tonight? Or was she on her own?"

Spider raised an eyebrow. "Who?"

"A girl tried to steal my pouch a moment ago!" the irate man growled, "She dared to put her hands on my belongings!"

"Ah, that young lady. She came through here," Spider replied. He kept his tone suave, brash. "However, it is not exactly my job to aid in the capture of theives, so why not go to someone who would be willing to help you."

The elf turned on his heel and left the peer of the realm to seethe in his anger.

"Don't you dare walk away from me!" an angry voice called after him, but the elf refused to pause. Spider strolled slowly, pretending he had somewhere that he was going to. He knew the nobles wouldn't go out of their way for confrontation unless one of their henchmen was there to do the dirtywork; as far as Spider knew, this one was alone. Glancing over his shoulder, he watched the frustrated courtier eventually stomp away.

With a quiet chuckle he approached a cluster of barrels near the end. He didn't go far enough to see behind them; after all, he didn't want to frighten her. Instead, he cleared his throat, keeping his voice low, "I wouldn't recommend going back out there for a while."

"You there!" she heard the man say, and for a split second, a feeling of panic coursed through her veins before she realized that he wasn't speaking to her. Jacks' eyes were clenched shut tight. She could hear her heartbeat raging in her ears.

"Silverbolt, correct? You have your little bandits scouting the town for riches tonight? Or was she on her own?" she heard the nobleman say.

"Who?" asked the elf.

"A girl tried to steal my pouch a moment ago! She dared to put her hands on my belongings!" the angry man bellowed. Jacks muttered another prayer, eyes still shut tight.

"Ah, that young lady. She came through here," the elf replied, and Jacks could feel her insides twist. This is it, he's going to give me up.. "However, it is not exactly my job to aid in the capture of theives, so why not go to someone who would be willing to help you," he finished. Jacks breathed a silent sigh of relief, worried eyes now open.

"Don't you dare walk away from me!" the noble demanded. Jacks leaned forward barely a few inches, peeking out from behind the barrel. Sure enough, the elf had gone and the noble scuttled half-heartedly after him. For a moment, all was silent, save for the pounding of her racing heart reverberating in her ears. Jacks breathed a deep sigh of relief, leaning back to rest her head on the building behind her, shutting her eyes once more. Thank the gods..

Then, she heard foot steps. She stifled a gasp, but sighed in relief once again as she identified the voice to be that of the elf's.

"I wouldn't recommend going back out there for a while," he told her, his voice low. Those icy eyes peered up at him from behind the barrel before she leaned forward to peek outside of the alley once more. From what she could tell, the nobleman was long gone. Slowly, Jacks stood. The elf seemed to tower over her - and if it weren't for the kindness and charm he'd allowed her to witness, she would have been intimidated. Jacks dusted off the bodice of her dress and spoke softly.

"I don't think I'll be going anywhere for a while.." she replied, noting to herself that the entire marketplace had witnessed that spectacle. "I feel as if me saying 'Thanks' isn't enough, but I'm afraid it's all I have to offer," she said matter-of-factly. If he was a thief - and a well-known one at that - she wouldn't be surprised if he demanded coin from her. "And this whole.. thing," she continued, making some abstract motion with her arms as if to encompass the events that just took place. "Isn't what you think."

"I feel as if me saying 'Thanks' isn't enough, but I'm afraid it's all I have to offer," the girl said. Spider tilted his head curiously at her. "And this whole.. thing," she continued, making an odd motion with her arms, "Isn't what you think."

Spider stood straight, to his full height, and crossed his arms over his chest. "I'm guessing you have a reason to try what you did. You don't seem like the type of girl who would take anything just because it was there."

He eyed her clothing. It would be all right for now, but come later, when the night grew cold...The wind was already starting to pick up a bit. Maybe it'd be better to go inside somewhere.

"Well, unless you have somewhere you have to be, I could take you to the inn. The owner and I have had a few deals in the past; I'm sure he'd be willing to give you a room for the night."

The elf had straightened his posture, and how he seemed to tower over Jacks even more so than before. "I'm guessing you have a reason to try what you did," the elf said to her. "You don't seem like the type of girl who would take anything just because it was there." Yep.. He'd pretty much hit the nail on its head - but Jacks didn't respond. Instead, she looked down the alley towards what light of day was remaining and offered a half-hearted shrug. She was more concerned with making her way back through town than with the stranger's ability to 'read' her. "Well," the elf continued. "Unless you have somewhere you have to be, I could take you to the inn. The owner and I have had a few deals in the past; I'm sure he'd be willing to give you a room for the night." Jacks blinked several times before directing her gaze back to the exotic looking elf before her. Those chilling eyes looked at him skeptically for a moment before she decided that going to an inn was probably her best bet. At least, if it was close. Jacks tried to remain casual, but she found it rather hard not to stare at his markings and piercings so she diverted her gaze.

"I don't need to be anywhere.." she said, pausing to think about what to say next. "I mean.. I live all the way across town.. it's just.... How close did you say the inn was?" Jacks asked, knowing full well he hadn't yet mentioned anything of the sort. She sounded flustered, if not a little shy - and if it weren't for the darkness of the alley, the crimson on her cheeks could be seen once more. She was most definitely not used to such kindness from strangers.

Spider noticed the girl observing him though remained silent. Normally something like that would bother him quite a bit, but he figured he must have been an unnerving sight to someone who didn't seem to know exactly who he was. He reached up to toy awkwardly with an earring that suddenly seemed heavier.

"I don't need to be anywhere.." the girl said, startling him slightly, then she paused briefly. "I mean.. I live all the way across town.. it's just.... How close did you say the inn was?"

Spider took a slight step forward, adjusting his coat a bit as another chilly gust blew down the alley. He tried to hide a shiver from her as it crept down his body.

"I...don't believe I did say. However, now that you mention it, it's a bit of a walk," he answered, peering at the crowds just beyond the alley. Suddenly realizing how much surpassed her height, he slouched a bit, trying not to intimidate her. "The only problem, though, is we'd have to go that way."

He pointed back at the main boulevard. Getting past that throng would be tricky, no doubt, especially after that earlier stunt the girl pulled. Nobles usually offered a healthy reward to anyone who brought a thief, or even an attempted one to them. And, being the semi-poor town this was, everyone wanted that reward; some more than others. He knew that fact all too well.

By now, she must think I'm far beyond creepy. "It's your decision," he continued, fixing his gaze upon her once again. It was asking a lot of her to trust him yet again, but unless she could somehow climb to the top of the buildings, returning home would prove to be difficult for her. She'd be safe at the inn. Plus, he might be able to find out a little about her on the way there; or, so he hoped. In the morning, activity would hopefully die down a bit. "But, you'll have to decide quickly before someone gets curious and finds us back here. And, it's going to be a cold one tonight, I think."

"The only problem, though, is we'd have to go that way," he told her.

Jacks looked as he pointed to the main boulevard. Her expression was almost sad. She definitely wasn't looking forward to passing through any crowds at the moment - especially since there was a good chance that the angry nobleman was still bustling about looking for her. Jacks sighed.

"It's your decision," the elf continued. "But, you'll have to decide quickly before someone gets curious and finds us back here. And, it's going to be a cold one tonight, I think."

Brushing a few blonde wisps of hair from her face, Jacks took a moment to scratch her brow - pondering her situation. There was a good chance that the inn was still close to home - but staying at the inn meant that if she were followed, at least whoever it was wouldn't know where she lived. Having made her decision, she looked back up to the elf with a nod.

"Alright," she said, still sounding a little unsure, even though she had convinced herself that it was the best choice. "To the inn we go, then." Jacks would definitely have to keep her guard up, she thought. While she herself had no valuables upon her, she was still suspicious of what his motives might be - after all, she was indebted to him now. She'd stay at the inn for the night and return to the orphanage in the morning to figure out how she should take care of her 'thief status.'

As they made their way out of the dark alley, Jacks realized that the sun was setting rather quickly. Where it had been rather bright when she first entered the market, the sky was now dim and she could feel the night's chill creeping in. She made sure her hood was up, wrapping herself up in her cloak for warmth.

"Alright," she said. She sounded rather hesitant about going along with him. Now he was worried that he really did scare her. "To the inn we go, then."

The girl pulled her hood up as they stepped to the edge of the alley. Spider eyed the girl's clothing again; it was downright cold now, but also, if anyone was looking for her, they'd recognize the cloak instantly. There has to be some way to escape attention...

Spider sighed and paused. "Hold on a minute." He tugged at one of his sleeves and slipped the coat from his shoulders. Another shiver crawled down his spine as the air slithered into his shirt and assaulted the exposed part of his chest. He held the coat up for her. "Put this on. It should give you a little more cover."

Once she was all settled at the inn, Spider figured he'd take off. To where, he wasn't sure yet, but he had already meddled in her affairs more than he originally intended to. On that thought, there was something he had originally wanted in return for his intervening; she seemed to innocent, trusting...he couldn't bring himself to ask for anything at all. Instead, Spider decided to take her to the inn, and be on his merry way.

"And by the way, while I'm thinking about it, I don't believe I caught your name...?"

The elf sighed and paused.

"Hold on a minute," he told her as he tugged at his coat sleeve, slipping it off of his shoulders. Jacks stopped and turned to him as he held the coat out to her. She looked at him questioningly as she accepted it. "Put this on. It should give you a little more cover," the elf explained. The girl nodded.

"Thanks," she said softly, slipping it on - thankful for the extra cover and the extra warmth it provided. Though, she felt bad that he was now trying to fend off the cold with nothing more than a shirt. As they continued on, Jacks kept her eyes peeled for any guards or angry nobles - hoping that everything would blow over sooner rather than later. Her mind was buzzing with questions that she was afraid to ask in fear of sounding ungrateful. However, she hoped that the inn he spoke of was of at least some quality. Secretly, she doubted that it would be. After all, she bumped (literally) into this man in an alley. What she really longed for was a long hot bath - but who knew if the inn offered hot baths? The elf assuredly did, but of course, Jacks would never ask. The two had walked some distance in complete silence before he spoke.

"And by the way, while I'm thinking about it, I don't believe I caught your name...?" he said, his tone making it sound as if he were asking a question. Jacks was apprehensive for a moment before coming to the realization that giving him her nickname couldn't hurt.

"Umm.. I'm Jacks," she replied, still speaking softly. "I apologize, I suppose we did not really have the opportunity for official introductions."

"Umm.. I'm Jacks," the girl replied quietly. He figured that was short for something but didn't press her about it. "I apologize, I suppose we did not have the opportunity for official introductions."

"That's true," he said, nodding thoughtfully, "I, umm..."

Spider cleared his throat. Giving out his name was always awkward, at least in his opinion. The nickname, everyone always asked about. Spider wasn't sure if this girl would too--

--But a loud, roaring laugh bellowed over the dull murmur of the crowds around them and interrupted him.

Never had he been so thankful to see that mammoth of a noble, yet at the same time he became very worried. But, he kept his head about him.

"Isn't that your friend over there?" he joked bitterly.

The same fool that had chased his new companion was arguing with one of the many vendors of the street; no surprises there, as aristocrats often fought long and hard to lower prices.

Upon seeing the man, Spider realized he hadn't kept a lookout for any possible problems, namely all the folks watching Jacks. He had to think of something, and quick! Very few would bother her while she was at his side; the ones that would probably weren't out now. The only major issue would be once she went to the inn, by herself. How to keep her safe...

Spider leaned over a little, stepping closer to her side, and muttered a quiet, "Play along."

With that, he slipped his arm over her shoulders and looked casually at the items on carts and they passed by. Maybe if others suspected that she was his partner, they would leave her be for the night.

'Please, work with me on this one... ' he begged her silently.
