I forgot about my stash of pictures from Versailles on my trip to Paris! Thought I might share some of those as well, and thought of Intrigued when pondering those who might appreciate them the most... :)

Versailles was cool. Spent a whole day there, and still didn't see all the gardens! Here you can see why this was...

The Fountain of Apollo

Unfortunately, none of the fountains were turned on when I was there! *pout* But this was a very cool one, Apollo leading his steeds out of the churning water...(well, it would be churning if it was turned ON! lol)

Lovely pictures

I can see that digicam is getting put to good use. Love the photos, always do.

A loverly statue in the garden....these were EVERYWHERE! Behind every corner, in every nook...it was awesome. The gods and goddesses live at Versailles! :)

I don't know why all the tourists wouldn't go away so I could take a clean shot here....*giggle*

The inside...

Was just as amazing! The paintings from so long ago...breathtaking!

Another Apollo...in the Apollo Drawing Room :)

The ceilings were the most amazing...here's part of the mural in the Mercury Drawing Room...

My advice, fire a small cannon above their heads. You might have about 15 seconds to get some nice photos before your arrested. *shrugging shoulders* May be worth it. Besides, I would post bail!

Section of ceiling mural of the Diana Drawing Room...

(Hard to get my names right, having studied Greek mythos far more than Roman! Sometimes it takes me a while to come up with the right name, lol)

Last one for now!

A statue in the Hall of Mirrors....talk about an amazing place! Pics don't turn out so good just because of all the light! Between the lamps and mirrors and gilded everything...the cam gets a lil overwhelmed.

But this statue was cool! Diana again :) One of my fave personas of the Goddess, actually. Which explains why I took so many pictures of Her! :)

These are wonderful pix... I love to travel, especially to castles and museums, so I may have to alter my future plans and move France up in my 'to-visit' list, based on your photography!

I have been jumping my way across Europe during vacations, starting with London, then Edinburgh, then Brussels, and next on to Dublin this Christmas. Usually I spend a day or two in the city then taking train or bus trips to the sites further afield...

I had been thinking after Dublin perhaps heading to Bavaria (Neuschwanstein, Mad Ludwig's castle), then head of to see the antiquities of Rome, Athens, and Egypt... but perhaps Paris needs to be moved a little higher on my list.

Perhaps the original low placement of Paris on my list was because of the stereotypical treament of Americans by the French, but thoughts of The Arc de Triomphe, The Louvre, The Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame Cathedral, Sacre-Coeur, and of course Chateau de Versailles may put those odd little notions in their place.

Again, I like all of your photographic art... thank you

Wow! I finally got my name up in lights!

Hello Mae!! I dont even know where to begin, I am just swept away. I tried taking notes as I went along, but to heck with that, I can't even think straight!

Mae, I am at a loss for words. You just gave me something priceless. :) All in all, I have to say that the Diana Drawing Room was my favorite, I could sit and gaze at it endlessly. I have never in my life seen anything so breathtakingly beautiful...there just aren't words.

I sincerely thank you for sharing this with me. :rose: I hope to see anything else you have to share, you are giving me something I doubt I'll never experience first hand. Bless you.

Oh, and thanks for the "name up in lights" bit, too!:D

Maeeeeeeeeeeee so glad to see you again, Those are remarkable pics. Your getting a adventure of a lifetime. Stay sweet.
