Get your head out of the gutter people.

Flagg, I didn't want to post this on that Xander/Angleique thread, so here's something I found out...

Siren reminded me of the song, too. There's an old Sophie Tucker verison on a British CD Collection called BERLIN/GERSHWIN/PORTER - THE GOLD COLLECTION (40 CLASSIC PERFORMANCES). The box is very unclear as to who actually released the thing, but here's some info that you can use to find it. There seems to be a reference number (R2CD 40-24) and in the liner note there's this reference "(p) 1997 Proper/Retro BIEM MCPS).

There's an American company called TOWER RECORDS that has an extensive classical library and a good staff that can help you find all sorts of things. I'm not sure of their web address, but I'm sure you can run a search and find it, or call their classical annex in Los Angeles at 310-657-3917. If you go to their web site do a search for the name of the song "The Man I Love". If you call they're pretty helpful finding things for you, and might be able to suggest another artist or two.

How clever of you, DCL

What a wonderful idea, play this song during the surgery to remind you of who you were and what you're going to be (i.e. a man lover). You guys continually amaze me. ROFLOL

I love you too man!

I know I never say this, but DCL, you're the best. I look forward to all your posts. You tend to be intelligent and thoughtful and I've never seen you insult someone else because they disagreed with you.

I would post this under my real name but then I would be accused of ass kissing and I got to protect my 'rep'.

And no, I'm not the origianl Flagg in Dragg.

Whew! I thought for a minute I was going to have to kick the shit out of Dixon.

Damn right "Flagg in Dragg" isn't the original. I can spell.

That is quite kind DCL!

I appreciate the kindness and support that gurus and the experienced show each other. One reason I was all the more draw to Lit.

DC, you have a great deal of class.

Flagg, best of luck. If you've the chance also check out one titled "The great Ladies Sing Gershwin".

Hoist the Flaggs...

We've got Tower Records in many of the cities over here. (It's always really good for getting hold of fanzines and underground / counter-culture books.) I know there are stores in London, Glasgow and Birmingham, so Flagg no doubt has one within driving distance of his mansion in the North of England, too.

Alas there is no tower records in my vicinity. I'll have to ask jeeves to ride down to London Town in the carriage and pick it up for me.

When I used to live in London, I'd go to Tower Records all the time. They sort of pioneered the idea of keeping their shops open until after drinking time. Great marketing idea - the place would be full of pissheads buying things they'd never even heard of!

Thanks a lot for the info DCL. I will take a look at the sites mentionned and failing that, I might have to resort to Virgin or HMV.

This has got me thinking. Some of you may be aware of the "fuel crisis" that the UK just got through (it happened all over Europe). During the "crisis" people managed to convince themselves that stocks would become low and hence the insane hording commenced (Hording is the reason for the fuel crisis in the first place. Ironic isn't it?) So anyway, people were buying 15 loaves of bread, 18 pints of milk and so on. As soon as one commodity was being panic bought, everyone wanted some of it whether it was a commodity they actually wanted or needed or not.
So here's the plan - if all of us from around the world order a copy of "The man I love" from the net on the same day, we could create a crisis! People will be screaming in the streets! "Gershwin! I need all your Gershwin and quick! I NEED it all!". People laden with Gershwin records rushing between shops and cars!
Mmm, anyway just a thought. (I think I got a bit overexcited there)

Exactly!

So where can I get some? I NEED SOME GERSHWIN NOW!!!! Honestly, I'm not addicted. I'm just a recreational listener.
