She'd be about 70 now. Every wonder what happens to fictional characters after the end of the story? Or in those places in a book that are "off-stage" so to speak?

Before going down to the strand where he sees Gerty McDowell in the Nausicaä episode in Ulysses, Bloom visits Paddy Dingham's widow. What did they talk about?

(Inspired--by word association only--by DCL's Simon & Garfunkle thread.)

Truely great fictional characters live on in my mind. In fact, I have fantasy conversations with them.

I don't do that, but I would like to try my hand at that "fan fiction" stuff someday, filling in the gaps. I haven't seen any based on classics. How about a short story about Dolly Haze's wedding day? Did she get married in Alaska, or did she and her husband more there after they were hitched? I think about this crap.

I've got too much something on my hands. I've tried washing it off, even used castilles brown, but no good. Next comes the 40 grit sandpaper.

Hey, if you wouldn't have your hands there to begin with, they wouldn't GET that on 'em. :D
