"Simon & Garfunkel in Central Park". KCET played it last night. I love that concert. Paul starts off looking all pissed at being on the same stage as Artie, but after a whole evening of listening intently to each other's voice, creating that sound, you can just tell how happy he is to be back in the groove, if just for a bit.

That was a great show. I saw it a few months ago after convincing my parents to watch it with me.

I feel so old.

Definitely a good choice in music. I have a few different CD's of that concert, and they definitely do have a great sound together. I've always like Paul Simon, but hearing Simon and Garfunkel together is a good stress reliever. Jim Croce does the same for me.

One of the songs I used to sing when I was little was *Cecelia*. (big shocker, eh?)

Gotta love their sound together. I dunno, Simon alone was never the same for me.

That was a beautiful concert

and that rhymin simon guy is pretty damn amazing, isn't he? I love his music and the lyrics! They are by turn clever, smart, insightful, wise, funny, heartbreaking. I taught myself a little folk guitar just to play the theme from bookends. You know:

"Time it was and what a time it was it was,
A time of innocence a time of confidences.

Long ago it must be, I have a photograph
Preserve your memories, they're all that's left you."

Sigh.

Oh I love that Simon and Garfunkle sound....

But there is something so great about Paul Simon alone too.... It don't get much better than Graceland IMHO....

I remember road trips with my parents where my mom made us listen to S&G along with some of her other favorites.

Now, I own every cd, tape and record I can find of them....

:)

The Dangling Conversation

ohhh i forgot that song......it's so beautiful!

"And how the room is softly faded
And I only kiss your shadow,
I cannot feel your hand,
You're a stranger now unto me
Lost in the dangling conversation.
And the superficial sighs,
In the borders of our lives"

Thanks for reminding me, Lucky Knight!

Here..this one still gets me kinda misty!

"Let us be lovers we'll marry our fortunes together"
"I've got some real estate here in my bag"
So we bought a pack of cigarettes and Mrs. Wagner pies
And we walked off to look for America

"Kathy," I said as we boarded a Greyhound in Pittsburgh
"Michigan seems like a dream to me now"
It took me four days to hitchhike from Saginaw
I've gone to look for America

Laughing on the bus
Playing games with the faces
She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy
I said "Be careful his bowtie is really a camera"

"Toss me a cigarette, I think there's one in my raincoat"
"We smoked the last one an hour ago"
So I looked at the scenery, she read her magazine
And the moon rose over an open field

"Kathy, I'm lost," I said, though I knew she was sleeping
I'm empty and aching and I don't know why
Counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike
They've all gone to look for America
All gone to look for America
All gone to look for America

The only strange part of the concert was watching Artie trying to be all funky when he joined Paul on "Late in the Evening". The man's a nerd. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but he is. LOL

That is nerdy, especially since you noticed how nerdy Art Garfunkel appears next to Paul Simon, who isn't exactly the alpha and omega of cool himself. Not that it's a bad thing, because its not.

Sometimes

nerdy is kinda cool. (But Artie is definitely the nerdier one)

Actually nerdiness is cool.
Of course I have more than my fair share of nerdiness myself :)
