I have never seen anything like it! Although I wish there was more physical variety. I usually hate porn because there is inevitably a male bias. But this is different! Maybe someone else knows about it. Called Cyber-dyke.net. check out http://www.cyber-dyke.net/faq.html. (Includes some kinky sites, btw.)

(And no, am not posting an ad for the site, really! LOL...)

I know this is a bit off subject, but we (wife & I) find most porn to be very disappointing. Whether it be straight/gay/lesbian/bi, it doesn't seem to matter. The problem is that there is usually no believable emotion, just raw sex. Sex really is a product of love, not the other way around. I know it costs a lot of money to produce a "real" movie. Have seen a couple that are interesting as well as erotic, but they are few and far between. OK, I'll leave now.

wow...

Neon, it looks like a great site... just read through the FAQ and love the premise... umm, I think I may have to spend some money...

You know I work for them, right?! I'm on the staff page and everything. I write the blog - check out my sig. :)

Yah, Cyber-dyke is pretty darn good!
I've recently found ftvgirls.com and love it.
(well, I haven';t spent much time with the single models, just the lesbian pairings)

"Real" porn?

Idiots.
Aw, sounds like somebody needs a hug! Did somebody pee in your Wheaties again? That'll make anybody grumpy, even an angel such as yourself, dear Bitchslapper.

Warning: Gay Man Posting. OK, now that you know, I actually co-directed a couple of made for lesbian videos with a lesbian associate of mine. We got honorable mentions for 2 years at the AVN awards and critics loved the videos.

Problem was, they sold poorly. The male buyers were not satisfied with the accuarte depiction of lesbian sex and the lesbians didn't buy them. Go figure?

Just my experience. I had a great time making the films and the cast was wonderful. I personally thought they were pretty hot even though I am a gay man. Unfortunately, sales sucked and we took a bath on both of them.

Etoile, is your product selling well?

What you describe is exactly what happens to most people who produce realistic lesbian porn. I was interviewed for a show about lesbian sex that was going to be on here! (I didn't make it to TV, sadly) and in chatting with the producer she said that's the exact story anytime somebody tries to make lesbian porn. Sales always suck on this kind of thing. I actually don't know the stats on how well Cyber Dyke sells; I get a bit of business from it but not much.

I guess the question is...
do people want realistic porn?
Maybe they don't.
Like any medium, there is an element of fantasy (i.e. we don't see people going to the bathroom, accidently sneezing up a booger, and sooner or later the two perfect people come together).
Does that sort of thing apply to porn?
Do people want, or even need, that non-reality?

Here is the reality.

Women are crappy consumers when it comes to sexual material - I don't know why entirely, but they are.

There are gay and straight markets. Guys paying in both.

I think there's a small but GROWING market of guys who are into actual lesbian smut though - I honestly think there's some nichey niche potential there. But I have no idea how one would market to them for sure.

If CyDy actively marketed to these guys they would probably turn off the lesbian base like a faucet. It would have to be super shrewd.

Some people have opinions that differ from yours and I think you're overdue to realize that and accept it.

Grow up.

Cyber-Dyke is a really awesome site, I have to agree- real lesbians, not straight women pandering to the male desire for "lesbian sex".

I'd throw out Crashpadseries.com as another awesome site for the real lesbian pornography . . . it's dang hot!

Porn

There was a series a while back called 'San Francisco Lesbians' that billed itself as featuring real lesbian sex, for lesbians. There's also a women-produced DVD called 'The Crash Pad' that is definitely all-lesbian and aimed at a queer female audience.

:D :D :D I should have guessed! Can't believe I've never followed that link before.

Re: your comment about "real" lesbian porn not selling. I have a close trans male friend who was producing FtM porn - also realistic, with real-looking people. Got great reviews, screened at major film fests, and even was asked to screen it at schools like MIT and Harvard. Also sold poorly. I know that his market was even smaller (there was bio-male on trans-male sex). Am wondering if in part the problem is how women, lesbians in particular, percieve a pornographic film even before they view it as embracing that straight male desire. Then again, could it just be because women are, in general, less visually oriented when it comes to sex?

Regarding wanting fantasy vs. real sex - give me real people with a modicrum of real passion anyday over plastic pussy and breasts, subjugated to male desires...

Thank you! I haven't had a chance to look at the whole site, but those women (and the couple of transmen/stone butches) were amazing! Be still my... well, you know. Neon p.s., bookmarked it...

Well, heck, if we're just going to start listing DVD's, I've pretty much got the list, I think:

1) The Crash Pad
2) Superfreak
3) In Search of Wild Kingdom
4) Working Girlz
5) Pornograflics
6) Full Load: Scenes from Ssspread.com
7) Hard Love & How To Fuck In High Heels
8) Sugar High Glitter City
9) Afternoon Special and Turn Me Up, Over, and On
10) Suburban Dykes
11) Coming Home
12) Special Delivery
13) Real Butch Dyke Lesbians
14) The San Francisco Lesbians series (there are like 10 volumes, I think)
15) Take Her Down!: Lesbian Erotic Oil Wrestling Party
16) Bathroom Sluts

I should know, I own 'em all . . . God, I need to find myself a cheaper porn niche!

I've got to agree with you there, Neon- I think the majority of it is the way that women in general see porn. Not just that it is based on straight male desire, but that porn- even that purporting to be for women- is somehow inherently degrading and forcing the actresses to do what they really don't want. I just think there are a lot of women out there, particularly lesbian women, who are still reeling from old-timey feminism and the strains of Andrea Dworkin, who equate porn with objectification, and equate that to [repulsive] male sexuality, and therefore would never dream of a porn movie where- gasp!- women make, star in, and consume and enjoy sexual acts on screen.

I don't think it has much of anything to do with that old "women aren't so visual" concept. Everything I know seems to point to the opposite- provided the visuals hit the right mark. Maybe we're just picky- there are so many different lesbian dynamics and I've heard more than one gal say "I'd love to buy a video if it had ________, but *sigh* I guess it's just not out there.".

P.S.- I'm curious- what was the movie your friend produced? I'm a big fan of trannyfag porn, too ;)

Ah, Ssspread.com, that was a site that died too early!

I never did get to see it, got turned on to the queer porn (all porn, really), a little too late, and by then it was dead and all I have is the one lone movie (which I quite adore).

When people talk about it, they literally go into dream-mode. Was it really that fantastic?

For me, it was amazing because it was the first site of its kind. I had never seen butch/femme relationships on the computer screen before. And they did do a good job of it. That's why I liked it so much.

Cand68, Friend's work: Sex, Flesh in Blood and Alley of the Tranny Boys... Andrea Dworkin *shudder* Re: visual vs. auditory/written - I prefer the written word to visual when well-written (well written porn vs. erotica being difficult to find), although I think that you're correct that part of the problem is that much of what is out there isn't meant for us, so we assume that none of it is. :rose: Neon

I think I tend to be more visual than most women, but I have to agree that well-written erotica is preferable to the majority of visual porn out there, simply because it's more erotic and lets me paint the scenes exactly how I want them in my head.

I've actually been searching for those very two movies (Sex, Flesh in Blood and Alley of the Tranny Boys) for a long time without ever being able to find them . . . is your friend Christopher Lee? And can you get me the, ahem, hook up to getting the films?

I doubt its just women that enjoy a well written story more than a porn vid. I know I'd usually rather read something hot and good while taking care of myself than watch a video. Thats not to say I don't enjoy a good video too.
