You bafoon, do you really think I read the entire thread before commenting? No, I didn't. Even so, is there anything wrong with repeating a valid point?

didn't think so.

This person made this comment to me near the top of the 4th page of a thread about Jewish People ( http://www.literotica.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=108642&perpage=20&pagenumber=1 ).

This person's first post on this thread - the one being referenced - was in the middle of page 3... maybe 25 posts into the thread?

Since this has nothing to do with the topic of that thread I'm opening the issue up here for discussion instead.

So... Naughty n Nice if by "bafoon" you mean someone who actually listens to what other people are saying, pays attention to the debate and hand, and then comments - then I thank you for the compliment.

Do I think that people should read entire threads before posting? Usually, yes I do. I grant that if a thread is a few dozen pages long then that might be asking a bit much. But then I still expect the person to read enough to know what's going on - at least the first few posts - and skim the rest and then maybe a dozen or so posts prior to the last post in the thread.

Since you had at most 5 minutes of reading to catch up on what was going on in that thread then, in this case, its a definite yes, I would have expected you to read the entire thread. But you obviously have very little respect for anyone else.

So - how many of you jump into the middle of a serious discussion without making even a minimal effort to see what others are saying?

You rang?

On rare occasion I comment before reading the entire thread. I announce that fact before I comment, if I do so.

Otherwise, I usually read most of it, and if it keeps my interest, then comment.

Guess I'm a bafoon too.

Moon

Now I'm gonna go read the thread in question.

Dilly is the sexiest bafoon.
i secretly lust him

But yes, most of the time I will endure the pain of reading a thread if it is of serious nature. If not, I do as Dillinger suggested, read the first few pages, skim the middle, catch up on the end of it.

If it is a serious thread, I read the whole thing. Digest the information in my puny brain, mull it over, reread it if it interests me and comment if I have something of interest to add. Or if I feel that I want to add my opinion.
For me, I respect and enjoy reading what people have to say, what they think or base their opinion on. It would be disrespectful of me to leap into the fray commenting on something I hadn't read and had no idea what the thread was about.
But that's me. A fluffy bafoon. (Not baboon, phew) :D

When do I work up to getting the good insults, like "bafoon"? It isn't fair that I don't. You fucking elite lit clique members hog all the good insults to yourselves.

But yes, I almost always do read the thread. It's more fun that way, and that way I hopefully only post if I genuinely have something to add, instead of repeating other people's replies. Though occasionally I will fall into temptation and reply before finishing the thread.

But that's probably why I'm not anywhere close to a thousand posts yet, let along a goddam elitist. :p

I'm ignoring eveything you all are talking about. I want to talk about waffles!

:p

I came to lit to read the stories. Therefore, I read an entire thread before I comment. I guess that is how I see the board, too. A story with many people conversing, and! taking turns. You don't have to shout to be heard above the real buffoons - I like to give the respect to the posters to think about what they have written.

Sometimes I take a little bit of time to post because I am thinking...so sometimes I may miss the post or two above me.

I also take the time to check on words if I am not sure how they are spelled. Buffoon. Yup, that's the way it is spelled.

You could always start a waffle thread.

I try to at least scroll through the entire thread before I respond. I won't even pretend that I read every post cause some people are just idiots and I don't want to waste all my time, lol.

Oh, for a minute, I thought this thread was about me...
And I can't believe I read the rest of this thread before posting...guess I do read the whole thread...

Maybe the solution is an "ignore" button for posters. That way, you automatically skip over the posts of those people you deem as "just plain silly", thereby allowing you to review the rest at your leisure.

While we're on the topic, is anyone amazed by the way people just sling around insults here? I mean, in real life, I have never ever called someone a "bafoon" (or idiot, or moron, or buffoon even) to their face, and would think really, really hard first before doing so. I think a lot of people, in real life, would do the same.

But here on Lit, sometimes friendly debates can turn into insulting contests at the drop of a hat. It's sort of weird and I don't get it.
