I lean over close to your ear and whisper. This is the only way to really communicate because of the noise of so many other conversations around us. I heard you say your name clearly, and saw the smile as you said "Nice to meet you", but I want to talk more, so I must lean and whisper.

"Your name is pretty, it's unusual, I like that." I notice a blond locke of hair falls forward as you lean closer to hear me. I tilt my head a little and look at your eyes as you smile and keep looking to the distance not suspecting that I'm sneaking a peak at you. Struck by your smile, your overall appearance, your demeanor and your pretty eyes I impusively add "You're very beautiful too."

You lean back, but not too far back. You're staying within easy whispering distance so that the possibility of continuing the conversation still exists, but you want to see my face too. Maybe you think I'm being insincere, maybe you think I'm teasing, but you're looking for visual clues.

I smile back at you and lean forward again to whisper again. I do this in part to see if you're still willing to listen to me. You lean forward again to meet me.

"This isn't a good place for a conversation, let's go somewhere else. The restaurant at the Ritz across the street is a quieter place."

I reach for your hand as it sits on your thigh.

Your hand jumps a bit as I touch it. It's like you thought my hand was charged with electricity. Maybe it is. But you respond and return the touch eagerly.

As we leave the night club, the sounds surrounding us die away and it is possible to talk again. In the short walk across the street, we talk about places we've visited and local friends. All the while, our hands are getting closer.

As we enter I say "there's some wine in the bar upstairs, you want to go there?"

With a nod we're off towards the elevators.
