I've absolutely loved golf. I love to play it, I love to watch it on tv, I love to hang out at the course.

Which is why it makes me sad that I suck at it so bad. I'm no better today than I was when I was 8 years old.

Ruminating over this, it occurs to me that golf is like women. For 40 years I've also loved women and haven't been very good at them either.

*golf clap*

Golf on TV is good to take a nap to. Even when they get excited, everyone whispers and doesn't wake me up.

Heading in to 18 this morning I was at 74. I ended up shooting 85!

...and I haven't been laid in a couple of years.

That's great. I have two comments/stories about golf:

1) On my dad's 80th birthday, he went out and played a round alone. He got a fucking hole in one with no one watching, the poor guy. You have to understand that my dad would sooner assassinate a president than lie. I so, so wish I'd been there with him for that.

2) I have a 1-iron that I used to keep in my trunk with a bag of old "smiles." Every now and then I'd stop driving and whack a few into the distance. I figured if I could hit a 1 reasonably, then I didn't have to play the rest of the game. I was once busted at the Appalachian Trail Conference HQ by a Leave No Trace master trainer, while I was swatting them into the woods. That was a funny conversation...

This makes me sad.

I can sympathise, even tho I am a woman.
My ex's first love was golf. He sucked too.
By which I mean he sucked at golf, and sucked at me as well.

Johnny, you don't have to be good at something to love doing it. Relax, learn to say "fuck it" more often.

I know your pain. I alwys wanted to be a race car driver. Got my chance 15 years ago. Turns out I am a helluva lot better making them go fast from the pits than behind the wheel.

And the whole woman thing- I read somewhere that studies have shown 80% of men don't understand women and 20% lie about it.
