I don’t care what side of any debate you are on.

But for the love of god, do some reading.

Try to find some common ground.

Try to find shared humanity.

Try to reason with yourself - how would I feel if this was done to me or my family?

Try to find a way through to talk with and reason with people.

Find middle ground.

Above all though,

Remember we are ALL flesh and blood.

We bleed the same way.

A screaming child sounds the same in any language.

Stop the violence. Stop the racism. End wars.

Make things better.

Choose peace.

Can't I just watch some Netflix? :)

Because nothing says "let's solve centuries of complex conflict" like a heartfelt plea to just stop and "choose peace," as if the world’s problems were as simple as a kumbaya circle and everyone suddenly remembering their shared humanity. I’ll be sure to remind the tyrants and warmongers that all it takes is a little reading and empathy to end it all. Meanwhile, the rest of us will keep trying something a bit more effective. Meanwhile I will return to Jared Diamonds, Guns, Germs, And Steel. :D

I publicly rejected political violence without qualification in 2025 and have implored others to do the same.

I will continue to do so in 2026.

I take that as meaning, "Read some books definitely written from a political viewpoint opposed to your own."

Here's a good place to find them -- scroll down the page: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/UsefulNotes/PoliticalIdeologies

Oh, don't be a party-pooper! Political violence is FUN!

For many of us, this is contradictory. For my part, I already know how I would feel if this was done to my family: my wife is a woman of color from a non-Anglophone country, hence we can't even go back to America to visit my parents because there is a very real chance she could be snatched off the street and end up in Uganda or El Salvador. I also have trans friends who are desperate to escape to a country where they won't be persecuted (one of them just made her escape over here, thank heavens, but she was lucky - her mother is Australian). I do not owe it to the people who are perpetuating that hatred to find any common ground or shared humanity with them. When they wake up to the reality that THEY are denying the humanity of immigrants, Muslims, trans people, women who want to make their own decisions about their bodies and so forth, THEN we can talk. Until then, I've got two words for them and they're not "let's dance".

We need a “hug” emoticon - I feel you. I do understand. I’m sorry.

Better off reading some Literotica.com stories, even the worst of 'em has got to be better than what's on the menu of political party books coming into print these days. Those raise your BP too high. Lit stories only raise your libido. ;):devilish:
