Just wanna see what the options look like. (I'm NOT bored ... just currently unoccupied.)

Arial

Arial Black

Arial Narrow

Book Antiqua

Century Gothic

Comic Sans MS

Courier New

Fixedsys

Franklin Gothic Medium

Garamond

Georgia

Impact

Lucida Console

Lucida Sans Unicode

Microsoft Sans Serif

Palatino Linotype

System

Tahoma

Times New Roman

Trebuchet MS

Verdana

Of course, it depends on your purpose whether to use one or the other ;) Sans serif is hard to read in long chunks, serif fonts are better for that. Sans serif stands out as title and short phrases? :D

IE: Ever seen a novel or newspaper article in Ariel font? ;)

Edit to add: the reason is that serif style has a better reading flow. One word connects to the next, whereas sans serif cuts off after each word by a jagged and non-flowing edge ... if you know what I mean?

Nor yours to me. Must have to have that font installed in order to see it, I guess.

Yep, that's the key. If someone doesn't have that particular font installed, they will mostly likely just see the default font.

Or you could use one that's not in the list like: Bradley Hand ITC
...which doesn't look like Bradley Hand ITC should on my computer. Since I don't have that font installed.

KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) and use what always works. That's my boring advice.

For instance... I'll bet this looks different your screen than mine.

Except I'm not doing it for anyone's benefit but my own.

hi charley

i've heard that about serifs and agree, for the printed page. bookman, for instance is very readable.

on screen, however, i've usually used arial and lately verdana. somehow easier on the eyes. i do some editing, and the 'clean' look is helpful.''

I do agree that other factors have to be right, e.g., no paras too long. I've experimented with spacing between letters, too. Also the line length has to be limited, i.e., not 9 ins, but more like 6-7.

Ah, yes, but there’s nothing like a good font that takes us back to the days of yore.
