Followers-only story?

I’m new to Literotica and was wondering if there is a possibility of publishing a story only for followers?

If there is such a tool, I’d like to know.

Thanks

There are ways to do it, but not through the Literotica platform. Nor should there be; that concept is in direct contrast to everything Laurel wants this site to be.

You'd need to get your followers here to start following you somewhere else, then publish directly to them there. I don't see the point; your followers will see your work here, and you'll have the chance to gain even more. Other than because you want to write something violating Lit rules, I can't think of a reason to do it.

My Authors' "News Updates"

What I always wondered regarding feedback to followers is the section titled 'News Updates' in one's member portal in 'My Authors Activity'. Is that of any function or just a placeholder for later use? Like to tell your fans, 'Hey, my next new hot story will come up next week. Time to buy popcorn, and any liquids you need.'

Lit doesn't provide that capability and doesn't allow off site promotion unless you also have content here. You'd have do it on another platform or privately, with no connection to Lit.

There's no tool for that.

Why would you want to publish a story just for your followers any way? This is Lit. There are thousands of writes and millions of readers. "Your" followers may be following a hundred or more other authors. "Your" followers may not pay any attention to your new masterpiece, because they're following dozens of other authors who also have new masterpieces.

I checked. It isn't like you have an army of followers, and you aren't going to get any more by publishing a story just for your followers.

I already think of a lot of my stories as being just for my followers, as my style is fairly unique and not for everyone here. But posting them publicly is how we get new followers, and doesn't everyone want that?

Not that you need to amass an army of followers. Everyone has their own goals. I think we're just curious about the purpose of a follower's only story. A lot of people want to ensure the widest-possible distribution.

If you limit the readership of your work, how on earth can one expect to get new readers ?

Maybe he's thinking more along the lines of a reward for those that follow him?
If that's the case it would have to be done on another platform.

If you are thinking of it as a way of avoiding the trolls with their 1-bombs it won’t work. You won’t know which of your followers are the troll and, as far as I know, you can’t filter your followers.

thank you.

I appreciate everyone's comments/replies.
The fact there is no such tool, understood.

As for my reasons... I am new on Lit as an author, and writing something (as you all most certainly are aware of is good amount of work). As all of you I'd also like my stories to be appreciated.

Being new I am prone to errors, missteps and bloopers.

Sharing a story as first draft with 'Followers Only' probably might give early feedback and one can re-touch a story, if the need is felt, getting additional perspective. (getting it from your followers make most sense because they are following you for a reason - they must like what you have done previously).

I was thinking of it as Pre-release.
An author may want to forego this and jump straight to publishing.

Doing a pre-release seems like it could be neat, though practically untenable on a site like lit.

Followers rarely provide story comments or feedback. They follow because they like how you write, but that's the end of the relationship. You're looking for beta readers, which are harder to find.

You also never know how many are still 'here'. Many people drift off the site but leave their account so there could be people who have had you faved for years that haven't been here in years.

Totally agree. You actually might want to go to the Editor's Forum, or use the Volunteer Editor Program, which is a tool!, and ask for a review, instead of waiting for any random follower to give you a feedback. I've seen requests for beta-reading there too. So, the perfect place to find someone that has a lot of reading experiences and the will/urge to share personal views and advice...

Try the editor forum. You might find one or more editors/beta-readers there.

Here's something I had been considering for sort of a focus group on a topic. I haven't tried it and have decided not to use it, but I think you could apply it to what you're looking for if you are set on getting a review from followers. At the end of your next story, ask for people interested in providing input on a pre-release to contact you through the feedback portal with an email address. You can send it to them that way. Just don't contact them with an email address you'll mind losing if you have to abandon it due to spam/hacking.

That's a way to interact with your followers on the story if that's what you are set on trying. I think looking for beta readers on the editor's forum as others have suggested would be more constructive, though Depending on what you want to fix, an editor could be even better. Generally speaking, you want an editor for copy editing, like grammar, punctuation, etc. For plot and character development, I find editors are a mixed bag. Sometimes they don't seem to really read the story as much as they read the sentences, if that makes sense. That's not all editors. Awkward MD, for instance (see her thread in the Story Feedback forum), is the whole package.

Followers only

Thanks EoN
The idea is nifty, but i’d rather stay with the site to fall & learn.

I have to admit I picked an idea from your After The Fall - Kincaid Manor artwork idea and submitted a floor plan of my own work, I felt the floor plan idea helps the reader relate better to the story.

Loved your work. 5*

My experience with volunteer editors didn’t go as planned. Will stick to cleaning up my own work.

Thanx

Presumably, you could just message the story to all your followers through Literotica’s existing feedback system, although I don't if a) there is a word limit on messages and b) what your followers would make of having an unsolicited story sent to them out of the blue.

An unsolicited story sent as you suggest (assuming it could be sent) is technically speaking, spam, which is against Lit policies.

I think the OP is best off continuing to write what they want to write. If it's good, followers will let the writer know. If it's mediocre, they won't, but if it's awful, the writer will probably find that out, too :).

Thank you! I'm really glad you're enjoying my story. I ran into something a little unusual when the most recent chapter was published. I submitted it Wednesday, May 27, but it didn't get published until yesterday. I don't know if anyone else had the same delays. Previous chapters have had a 2-3 day wait. Maybe it's because lots of stories are being submitted for contests?

Your floor plan is so professional. What did you use to make it?

Followers-only story

I used excel for the floor plan.
I have the same issue with submission.
I have edited my story after realising I badly needed editing, and proof reading.
It’s been over 5 days since the submission and it hasn’t got published online yet.
The artwork got published in 1 day though.
