Follower Count and Feedback Questions

Hello,

Since the 11th of January, I've started writing and publishing stories on here and I've been enjoying it a lot! I have 2 technical questions to ask those of you more experienced,
  1. My follower count says I have 52 followers, but when I go through the list of activities in the 'My Home' part of my dashboard I can only count 38 users who have followed me. Why is this? I don't believe anonymous users can follow, can they?
I know to most people this is really nothing to care about but I am someone who adores making spreadsheets, and tracking my follower growth is something I'd like to do.
  2. I've received some private feedback a couple of times, both times I was notified about this on my email. Is there a way to view these messages on the website? Better yet, can I reply?

Does it matter whether I use the old website or the new mobile-friendly beta in terms of my questions?

Thanks a lot for any help, really enjoying this community so far :)

Hi, Sudete,

Welcome and congratulations on attracting followers. They are precious like gold or gemstones to authors.

The activities list doesn't always record new followers if the person takes two actions, such as favoriting a story and following the author at the same time. I've observed this happen a number of times, though there are a few times I couldn't tell if there was a second action. To see your list, click on your name to go to your "My Home" and then click "Following" at the left. Click "My Followers" at the upper right, and you'll be able to scroll through your followers, ten at a time. Note that the Follower number sometimes takes a few hours to catch up to new followers on the list.

If the message is sent from the main board and forwarded to you by e-mail (as in your case), you can't see it on the board. However, if it is a PM sent to you through through the forum board, it will be in your PM list. Click on "Private Messages" in the upper right for messages sent through the forum.

Good luck and keep writing!
