What do you do when the stress of life gets to you?

I mess with my hair. I just got 8 inches cut off! Talk about liberating.

8 inches cut off? Geez... that's like... well - uh... if did that then... well - there'd still be plenty... *lol* But it would hurt.

I volunteer to be your photographer!

OK - I'm out of here for about a 1/2 hour... back soon. Meanwhile - I responded to you on my Baraka thread - sort of... *lol*

Ouch that would cause more stress for me I'm afraid. When the demons get too close I run. Not quiet jogging but desperate fleeing until I tremble from exhaustion.

And if that doesn't work there's always vodka.

If the haircut's not enough, buy shoes.

When all the stereotypical female coping mechanisms are complete, I vote for a primal scream then therapy.

What? No brawling? No hair loss involved unless you tangle with a yanker and don't know how to take her (it's always a her) happy ass out.

There is nothing like a good fight to turn that frown upside down.

Really.

:)

What do you do when the stress of life gets to you?
Scream into my pillow
Sigh a lot
Blurt a little
Rent a funny video and laugh till I cry
Think how lucky I am compared to others
Snip the dead heads off my roses visciously
Walk in the rain

I do the running thing sometimes too. If I get lucky with timing, I'll have my bicycle and there'll be a big, windy storm out. If not, I might do some martial arts hardening exercises (known to the uninitiated as hitting things that won't break). If there's nothing around I'd feel comfortable hitting, or if I'm in a place that'd be inappropriate, I'll usually start alternately looking like a hunted animal and a hunting animal, muttering to myself, and shifting nervously. I prefer it when there's a storm I can go ride in.

When the stress of the world gets to me I paint and all of the pain and stresses seem to melt away and my world become only one of color and beauty.

For me its exercising. It used to be eating or drinking, and sometimes it still can be. But more often than not these days its excercise that renews me, puts things in perspective and relieves my stress.

I know a lot of people like to work out first thing in the morning but that doesn't work for me - first of all, I'm not a morning person. And, I find that working out at the end of the work day really helps clear my mind, and forms kind of a bridge between work and free time at night.

Cut My Hair?....Never!

It's too much a part of me...I've been a longhair since I was 10 (that's 32 years!) When I get stressed, I do something that puts it in perspective. I head out in the boondocks and ride my sportbike through the foothills at 2 or 3 times the speed limit. At those times, all of life's worries take a back seat to the imminent threat of sudden death. When I get really stressed, I jump out of airplanes. Nothing matters more at those times than a good pack job and non twisted lines. When I land safely, I'm so glad to be alive that life's other concerns seem so petty. I used to disarm thugs, but I don't let myself get that stressed anymore!

I sleep. Just woke up from a stress nap. think I'll go for another, first one didn't seem to get it all. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Honestly? Solitude, like on the swing or going for a walk, something like that. But sometimes there's an interval before that which involves very, very loud music.

Last time I blew speakers on a Joe Satriani tune.

This tends to enhance the sense of quiet afterwards, both by contrast and a certain temporary deafness ;)
