Everyone equates flowers and candies as one of the stand-by romantic gifts..

WHY?

They are so over done..

Screw up.. buy flowers
forget something.. buy flowers
do something.. buy flowers
want sex.. buy flowers
want to seem romantic.. buy flowers

what is this crap? have we lost our minds? be creative.

you can't tell me its a cost thing.

It cost 45 dollars to get a star named after someone
It cost 60 dollars to purchase a balloon party pack and fill her car with helium ballons when she's at work.
It cost 80 bucks for a decent bottle of wine, her facorite book, and a basket to put them in..

These are just off the top of my head..

Please observe some freakin creativity so I don't get any more calls at midnight from female friend bitching about how unromantic their men are.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

How about buying her a day at the spa?
Flying her to South Carolina to walk on Myrtle Beach?

ok so these are a lil bit expensive.. but hell it's romantic!

ummm.... not everyone has received flowers from someone for any of these reasons, let alone any reason at all.

Im not actually advocating romance, im advocating creativity..
Sorry about the rant, It just bothers me people calling me at midnight for this shit.

My wife never complains when I bring home flowers...you have to do it even when there's no motivating factor behind the act.

I once looked for months and months for a toy a girlfriend had lost when she was like 6...So I finally found it and gave it to her.

That was good.

Flowers are good if you take the time to go to your lover's favorite florist and get his/her favorite arrangement (assuming you know what that is).

Grocery store, street corner, or 1.800.flowers are an insult. They show exactly how little time, energy, effort and thought you put into it.

Just buy the flowers and get it over with.

My girlfriend gets them once or twice a week from her husband. Her house always looks so nice with them around, but he must really need forgiveness a lot!

flowers are good, but now I have some real good or at least better ideas to work with too. Thanks Aquila, you made my whole evening.:)

Yay

Considering I've received flowers I think 3 times in my current relationship, flowers would most definitely be welcome. But more as a surprise on a day when I just feel like microwaved shit.

My ex-fiance used to buy me lilies every week. It was really nice.. I dont know, I just don't think flowers can be overdone for me... I really enjoy them. They smell good, brighten my house/room (whichever I'm in posession of at any given moment), and they make me smile.

I just bought my girlfriend a flower today (a single rose  ) because I have to go to the bus station and pick her up tomorrow morning, and I can surprise her with something special. I know she loves flowers.

Then you can make nauseatingly romantic comments like "It's as beautiful as you are, my sweet." Hmmm, I think I'll use that one.

Aquila, your idea of a decent bottle of wine, her facorite book, and a basket to put them in..sounds like a great idea as long as it is erotic stories which he will read to me in bed while we sip our wine. :p
