Flash challenge - froggy!

I just happened to stumble upon a cool picture. I thought it might be good for some inpiration of the less high brow kind.

So here's the thing. It is now midnight here. In 24 hours, throw together some lines inspired by the picture and post it here.

Due to the motif, Maria's participation should be mandatory. ;)

:D awww, gawsh, it makes me all warm and sticky to know that you thought of me

yeah, I got an idea as soon as I saw the little hopper :)

How did the tiny frog emerge
his thrill seeking leap
from the bud--

wiser.

Sorry. I have a fever and the delirium comes and goes.

Blip kinda scares me a little. The troll I like.

Syndralirium

Even though the image of a warm and sticky Maria was a distraction I did it.

The Frog and The Lotus Bud

A frog once fell in love with a lotus flower
He spoke so eloquently of her petals fair
She sheltered him from danger by the hour
And he knew that he could safely settle there

He spoke so eloquently of her petals fair
She blushed to hear him singing of her grace
And he knew that he could safely settle there
It was, he thought for him, the perfect place

She blushed to hear him singing of her grace
They stayed together all the summer long
It was, he thought for him, the perfect place
She never tired of his froggy song

They stayed together all the summer long
It was as if she were his lovely bride
She never tired of his froggy song
But in the chill of fall the lotus died.

She sheltered him from danger by the hour
And death had seemed so very far away
A frog once fell in love with a lotus flower
Another lotus bud – another summer’s day.

Pardon this intrusion
Madame Bud, your vernal beauty
has left me sprung.

Skip the birds
and oh yes, those bees.
Let it be known, all day

I'll hang here in delight
ready to three
finger frig your pollination.

Getting Maria warm and sticky... check.

Here's my quite damn unpolished contribution.

Hang

we never just hang anymore
you said

as if time had stood still
through a decathlon
battle for the prize of top dog frog
in the pond of it all

as if pondering past
and wondering
what poured by so fast?
would break the fall
when clinging to will

and finding the goal
was another one still
one we've been though before

no we don't
I said
dangling from my own overkill
we don't hang anymore

walking away
knowing for sure
before I let go;

time for just hanging
files under "before"

*Gulp* You guys are too good.
Oh, like you didn't just whip together a Tresstina form poem!

Here is mine:

You say you cannot be
this flower again, cannot
bloom in sun nor turn your face
to rain, cannot welcome me
with the scented words of new lovers.
My slippery skin slid more
than you expected, took you
places where nectar and petal,
the language of your birth,
are foreign, and left your roots
exposed. You say you will not answer
my croaking plea, will not offer
precious pollen nor smile
at my feats of strength.

But I do not call from the swamp,
and I am not here for chance
of wind or wayward hop, I am here
for love; the green you leave
upon my skin stains my eyes,
my thoughts, my heart. I am here
at the orange hour with only hope
in tenuous grip. Be silent, blossom,
and hear the song upon my breast.
Shhhhh.

psst 669 posts <grin>
is that like a 69 with an extra
one of those three-some things <laughing>

In the Swamp ...is ...EVIL~

If the bayou were a breeze
than open seas would have sand
and frogs would hang from trees

If the swamp were for the dwelling
then ribits wouldn't sing-it
and owls would be noisey

For even the flower of the black water
is wicked and a taint odder
than the blossoms of a hot house in winter

The slithering lure to creatures of small
to cast dismay on passing prey
attracted to their beauty and awe

ribits, dragonflys, lady bugs and beatles
one will faulter another will fall
trapped by the trickery of swamp evil

Frolicking Froggie

Hanging around by the tips of my toes
Just isn’t good as everyone knows.
One day soon, I’ll fall to the ground
And then you’ll know, I’m hopelessly bound

By the ways of the world, as all shall see
I’m dependent on you, as my own Life’s tree.
I see you clear, I’m unable to hide
But holding a bud’s a hell of a ride.

hungry brown tree frog
a tear of dew poised to drop
fools curious flies

Are you offering me a rose from which to hang? :D

And I can't wait to see what you do, Amphibian Queen!

The Ballad of Frog Royale

( this should be read/sung/hummed
to the tune of the Young Man on the Flying Trapeze)

He could sail through the air, on the wisp of a breeze,
the daring young frog from the coast of Belize.

He was part of a troupe, yet was one of a kind,
he could waltz on a bud since he learned how to climb.

But as he performed for a queen and her niece,
he was swallowed alive then expelled in a sneeze.

Though the day has long past he remembers it well,
how he came close to death by one hapless inhale.

It seems ripe papaya was part of the cause,
then a lamp in the parlor attracted some moths.

And when he attempted to bypass the flutter,
he misjudged the distance, and landed in butter.

And meanwhile the queen and her parlor of guests,
demanded refreshments, a simple request.

With no way of knowing, they buttered their scones,
while poor circus frog was as slippery as stone,

And when he emerged, left the queen all aghast,
her ladies in waiting withheld frightened gasps,

The queen then emitted the shrillest of screams,
went into a seizure and started to sneeze.

She struggled for air, frog was caught in the mess,
but managed to land on the queen’s new silk dress.

She bent over it seemed, to take a big breath,
but when she inhaled, frog was sucked off her breast.

She gagged as she swallowed, frog stuck in her throat,
the way that she bleated as poor froggie croaked,

The hysterical sight so delighted the queen,
now her Majesty’s party was the place to be,

The queen was amused but her guests wouldn’t leave,
until a repeat of the disaster-ous scene,

Now young Circus Frog has a troupe of his own,
they’re dancing their jigs at the foot of her throne.
