Flagrant Gender Discrimination!

That was a low blow, GQ, and entirely uncalled for. And don't you fucking say "Oops" either.

:p

Tat, for the record, my side of the aisle makes fun of ALL engineers.

We don't make fun of martial arts experts, though. We just sit back and say "watch this shit."

Edited to add: More like "hullaballoo disconnect"

Serenissima Syd, I was only stating a fact, not delivering a "low blow." Not mocking your alma mater at all. I visited A&M campus. It's nice. I also visited UVa, and Will & May, with my elder daughter, who wound up going to Rice.

To push the envelope, Forbes' list of top 100 public universities in the United States (UVa #6; VaTech #44, preceded by a few other Virginia universities)

http://www.forbes.com/2009/08/06/best-public-colleges-opinions-colleges-09-top.html

Holy shit.

I went to the original list--with public and private--and . . . is that how much my school costs now?

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

My computer engineer won't fix my macros. He lets my computer technician son-in-law do it.

One of the benefits of marriage, I suppose.

And if you are actually talking macros . . . why the hell are you writing macros? I didn't think you did that kind of writing.

Smart girl. Really. Harvard of the South. Best bang for your buck in private yoonuhvuhsities.

And I know. I'm the one making fun. ;)

Bill Clinton in right about Perry, btw. He is one handsome devil. But I think Bill's just jealous.

Until you get that worked out, I'll have to limit my visits to August.

Sometimes we don't have white powder falling from the sky the whole year. Last year it only snowed twice--and then less than four inches each time. C'ville is on the immediate east of two major mountain ranges. Storms tend to beat themselves silly on the mountains before reaching us. We normally only have to worry about the ones coming up directly along the coast from the south, which is rare.

I was in snow this week, though. My daughter lives on top of Blue Mountain in northern Virginia. They had three inches on the ground on Tuesday.

Ah, no, the slug isn't misnamed. Your post is misrepresenting. You call it a football team issue. The article isn't about a football team; it's about a cheerleader squad. One of your "not all there" evenings, is it?

You can certainly consider cheerleading a sport if that gives you comfort. But the article you cite isn't about a football team.

If you look at the title of the thread, you will see that it is about gender discrimination. Football is not an issue. Gender discrimination is the issue. I mentioned football as an extreme example where gender discrimination is not allowed and included it with a link to an article about an activity where it is allowed.

As for cheerleading being a sport, that is a matter of opinion. Competitive cheerleading, which is what the link is about, is physically demanding and is frequently considered to be a sport, as are things such as bronco riding, figure skating, diving, surfing and other competitions where the scoring is subjective, rather than objective.

We got past that. Well, some of us did. You posted that it was a football team issue. You posted that it was a football team issue. You posted that it was a football team issue. You posted that it was a football team issue.

Got it now?

Macros are used in editing. I don't use them in writing. (we may be talking different macros.)

Yes, lots of things can be classified as macros. I'm talking about the loops I write in statistical programs. I tend to get lost in the logic when I write them, and after I've struggled for hours, he can usually find my problem in about five minutes.

Bastard. Sometimes I really hate that he's smarter than I am.

It's also very dangerous. Some devastating head injuries occur in cheerleading.

Ah, in my world macros are simple keystrokes that do complex things in a document.

We have similar problems. I don't mind, though. I'm just glad I finally found a man smarter than I am. It was so hard.

<snickering....>

Stroking your keys...fixing your macros...letting your SIL do it.... I've got this group sex incest plot bunny going through my head!

Thanks a bunch. The next time I'm with my son and son-in-law together is Christmas.

I imagine few females have the right stuff to compete against males in football.

You aren't the only one thinking along those lines. :)

Tat, you slut! I knew there was a reason why I liked you....

Love that pic of Marilyn, btw.

Oh, damn! And there's not enough time to get this story in the contest!

And the few who do, well, hmmm....

Theres always gonna be 2 headed babies. I read somewhere that the best female distance runner ranks around #600 when compared with males. Can a mouse follow the same path as an elephant? Sure!

What the gals cant seem to get is how God packs a unique prize in every box of CRACKER JACK.

I was hoping someone would provide a segue to this story, about the girl in Michigan who named homecoming queen moments before kicking the winning field goal, and who wore her tiara above her uniform.

:)

Thanks. I can't decide if I want to see the new movie about her.

There was a very bad movie in the late 80's or early 90's in which Kathy Ireland played a kicker for a football team. And yeah, I'm mixed on the Marilyn movie, too, though I think I like Michelle Williams.
