Fjords?

They're like just there, you know? They hang out and look so cool. And they have the rockingest name!

Oh yeah... and as raindancer just pointed out they have... inlets!

Perk is definitely trying.

I have to tell you - I've got some major wood going from that pic!

I just can't pass this up....

Dilly, (may I call you Dilly?)

I am sure that a well read man such as yourself knows that I created the fjords. Thanks for liking my work. I have won several awards for that work. Maybe next time they'll let me put them around Africa like I wanted to do.

Thank you,

Slarttybartfast(or as it is really spelled in the books Slartibartfast)

HHGTTG.

In fact, I do. And you have my thanks for such a wonderful feat of engineering. If there is every anything I can do for you...

When I was backpacking around Scandinavia for 2 months I saw the most amazing landscapes. The Fjords are just amazingly beautiful - you could really lose yourself there.
We took a Norwegian Postship (that is still delivering post to the people who live in remote areas, such as fjords) and for the 3 days it took us to get up to the North Cape I was looking 24/7 at this amazing landscape.

Fjords are wonderful and a great sight too.

I came from a place in Québec where we got a Fjord, Saguenay:

http://www.tadoussac.com/tourisme/imagesActivites/Saguenay.jpg

Fjord are narrow, lengthened and steep marine Gulf, which results from the invasion by the sea of a U-shaped valley dug by a glacier.

Because they are associated to the work of glaciers, Fjords are generally located
under high latitudes. Thus, they can be particularly found on the West coasts of
Scandinavia, North America and South and New Zealand, as well as in the Arctic,
Iceland and Scotland.

On the East coast of North America, there are some Fjords in Labrador, Newfoundland and also one in the Maine, more precisely on the Mount Desert
Island. There would also be other ones in New York, in the mouth of the Hudson River.

In the literature the Saguenay Fjord is often considered as being the most southern Fjord of the east of North America, with the mention that it possesses all the attributes of a Nordic Fjord.

More fjords! *big smile* (Can you put one in my backyard?)

Dilly, (may I call you Dilly?)

I've just been browsing around here at lunch time and every post I see of your is about your fjord Friday. Is it just fjords that turn you on or are there other geocological features of the earth surface that we can celebrate here on Lit.

Should there be a Mountain Monday?

A Tree Tuesday?

A Sunset Sunday?

Etc, Etc I know these aren't all geographical features but I'm tired and can't think straight. Maybe some other people can come up with better days.

Just a thought.

Well the other geological features add spice and variety but really, its all about the fjords, isn't it?

You're right, you're right. I know you're right.

Of course I'm right, I've got over 10,000 posts and at least 100 of them are about fjords.

I'm guessing less than 84 since you just start perving over fjords today. But you are right.
