By not having a mask mandate, not only is the general population put at risk for significant spread of Covid, it also puts those individuals with underlying health and immunity issues at much higher risk.

This case will be interesting to watch. The living standing and hard one rights of citizens with disabilities will be front and center....again, it obvious to me and why would any Governor, School Board Member, Principal of a school want to make access to public education harder?

Seems like a no brainer...we shall see what they find.

I predict the investigation will take months and eventually they’re going to find that these states indeed don’t have mask mandates. They will then demand that mandates be imposed. Governors d will resist. Litigation will follow. A final outcome could happen by 2022.

What a lame argument.

No, it puts (D) power and control at risk....thus the problem.

That microscopic minority that is at high risk are responsible for themselves and need to take appropriate action.

It's not up to the state to force the other 99.8% into masks at gunpoint so they "are doing something" to "protect" the vulnerable.

Ah, nice to know you are ignorant of a bunch of State and Federal laws about access to education.

Not surprising....facists have a well documented history of wanting to exclude and terminate folks who have medical conditions that need allowances to be made so they can partake in society.

Also, isn't it Democracy you describe...."forcing the other 98.8% into masks" I thought you hated Democracy....then way do you use it for your argument?

Same as 100% of the population.

Tell it to NYC and the (D)eez running it who just excluded anyone with a medical condition preventing them from getting the covid vaccination from partaking in society.

How democrats run things.

While calling others fascist. :D mostly when triggered for pointing out and disagreeing with their authoritarianism and God Karen control freak complex.

Did you have a point or were you going for the ad hom that was the easiest to throw back in your face???

Also, isn't it Democracy you describe...."forcing the other 98.8% into masks"

Yup.

I thought you hated Democracy....

I hate uncontrolled or un-restricted democracy, especially when used to justify anti-American and authoritarian policies you support.

then way do you use it for your argument?

I didn't, learn to read.

Some bipartisanship is arising from the controversy. A piece in today’s WSJ says that it’s resulting in Democrats favoring school choice in much greater numbers now.

“The good news is that we might find some unity amid such division. A nationwide poll by Echelon Insights in August found that 79% of respondents with an opinion support allowing families to take their children’s taxpayer-provided education money to a private or home school if their public school doesn’t mandate masks. Surprisingly, Democrats favored this school-choice proposal more than Republicans, with support at 82% and 78%, respectively.

“Another recent nationwide poll, by RealClear Opinion Research, found that support for school choice surged by 11 percentage points among registered Democrats during the pandemic—from 59% in April 2020 to 70% in June 2021.
