Five Movies that ALL MEN Like???

Hello,

There is a radio station morning DJ here who claims all men like five movies without exception. His position is that any man could watch them over and over and never get tired of them. He gets lots of people who call in and agree. The movies are (in no particular order):

The Blues Brothers
Blazing Saddles
Stripes
Caddyshack
Animal House

Now, I confess, I like all these movies except one. I can watch the Blues Brothers over and over. Stripes, Caddyshack, and Blazing Saddles I see every so often and still laugh. Animal House...I haven't seen for a while, but it didn't crack me up when I saw it.

I'm female, but most of the women I know like a couple of these but not all of them, while, ALL the men I know DO love them, and, since most of my friends are men, it leads me to belive maybe this DJ has got something.

So...tell me truthfully. Do you like these flicks too girls, or do you leave the room in disgust when the "beans" scene comes on?

Guys? Is this just hogwash?

Loved Blazing Saddles- along with Mel's other movies. The others on that list were ok, but I wouldn't trip all over myself to watch them again.

I am surprised at that list though. Most every guy I know always watches The Godfather (series); The Dirty Dozen and The Great Escape.

I must have my fair share of testosterone cause I like them too. Now, just try to get a guy to admit liking any chick flick! ;)

Blues Brothers - absolutely.

Blazing Saddles - one of my favorites of all time BUT - seen too many times - tried to watch a few months ago and got bored.

Stripes - Very funny but not one to see over and over again.

Caddyshack - Pretty boring.

Animal House - you know, I could see this one again...

Blues Brothers--not really a big fan of it. Saw it, some of the scenes I loved, but over all not my type of movie

Blazing Saddles--(poor me) I've never seen it, but if it's like Mel's other movies it must be good.

Stripes-My husband and I both love this one. In fact, we watch it when we can, at least once a year. <g>

Caddy Shack--loved it, as well as Caddy Shack II

Animal House-nope, hated it, but hubby loves it.

I can tell you some movies that my husband does love to watch.
The Matrix-(all of us in the family love it, even the little ones. The freakiest thing of all, is that this is the first time my husband has ever heard any other person with his name. We were in the theater and ever time some called for Neo, my husband would jump up and try to find out who was calling him.)
Excalibur-The original one. I believe it was first made in like the early 80's or late 70's. An awesome movie. My husband bought it and now we watch it when we feel in the mood for it.
Blade-Although it does get a little boring after you've seen it about two billion times, but he still loves it.

Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be

Hate to ruin the image of dj's as totally omniscient, but I only like two of those movies, Blazing Saddles and Animal House. The others just didn't make me laugh enough to watch them more than once, or even all the way through. So I must be defective.

The funniest movie I have seen in the last twenty years is Best in Show. Not exactly in the same vein as these flicks.

Five More Guy Flicks

1: The Wild Bunch

2: Tombstone

3: The Quiet Man

4: Silverado

5: True Grit

Notice a JW/Western connection here? It's a guy thing. ayup :D

My husband says he could do without Blazing Saddles but wants to know how they could do without The Good The Bad and The Ugly?

As for the others, he said yes he could watch them over and over again.

I think the guy was only going for comedies...

Otherwise...yeah Dirty Dozen, Silverado, Magnificent Seven, Great Escape, Kelly's Heros, Godfahter and no end of others would be mentioned too ;-)

Like I said, I've been listening to this guy on my way to work for almost a year now - he's out of Tampa and not this rinky-dink place I'm schlepping in. I just found it amazing that most of the people who call in, and most of the people I talked to were pretty much in agreement over the "Guy 5" as this guy calls 'em.

I Like them but don't love them or to put it another way I could take them or leave them I've seen them enough times for awhile.

I'm your huckleberry

loved all of 'em, but in a perfect world "animal house" would be replaced by "tombstone."

but then again, in a perfect world we wouldn't have divided the sexes.

Hmm, I guess it's my feminine moment for the day, the only one I've seen is 'The Blues Brothers.'

I've only seen the Blues Brothers and Caddyshack....Blues Brothers was great but Caddyshack was pretty boring..

Surely all guys like action movies? The last truly guy movie i watched was The Three Kings, all my guy friends loved it and all my other girl friends thought it was boring....

I agree, Three Kings was very boring.

How about Terminator?
Don't y'all love Arnie?

Yes, Arnie rocks! LOL! I must know a pretty weird group of guys... most of them wouldn't watch any of those five... But, they remember the entire script of Princess Bride.

WELL, I DON'T KNOW......

"Blazing Saddles" is a classic comedy. I would tackle a bear to get home and see that movie. But while I liked the others, I wouldn't exactly hurry home from work for them. The DJ left out:
"Independence Day"
"Full Metal Jacket"
"City Slickers" (#1 was best; #2 was not as good)
"The Godfather"
While I can't speak for every man, I am a great fan of
"When Harry Met Sally"
"Parenthood"
"The Jerk"

All those movies are extremely good and ones that I would love to see over again but there are three that I watch over and over again and can't get enough of, it is the Star Wars Trilogy, those movies positively rock.

Apocolypse Now (sp?)
Full Metal Jacket (good choice above!)
Braveheart
Outlaw Josey Wales
Magnum Force

At the risk of being seen as a girly-man...

I LOVE chick flicks! Especially those where the chick has long dark hair (butt-length, even), great tits, and gets naked a lot.

What's that? Not the kind of chick flick you had in mind?

I have seen all of these flicks and, while I do like them, I wouldn't classify them as must-see over and over kind of films. For me, Animal House holds up the best and Blazing Saddles seems the most dated. Although parts of BS still crack me up.

Harvey Korman screaming, "It's HeadLY, dammit!"

and

"Is it twue what they say about you people?" Sound of zipper opening. "Oh, it's twue! It's twue!"

Followed by the line the censors made Brooks cut:

"You're sucking on my arm." ;)

Blazing Saddles: Pretty good but I can't find the edition that I want...

Stripes: prettty good but can live with out...

Caddyshack: pretty much the same as Stripes

Animal House: should never have been made... sorry to say but it is true..

You could make a mile long list of "Movies they should have included", but to come up with a list EVERY guy will like is hard. I could put "The Maltese Falon (a GREAT guy flick) or "The Mark of Zorro" on my list, but some men won't suffer through blakc and white, so you can't honestly include it. Same goes for great flicks like "Full Metal Jacket" which are too cerebral for EVERY guy. And who wnats to watch it over and over and over again?

No, to get on a list like that you have to have a film full of great set pieces that become mythological, like Bill Murray's "Cinderalla story" speech or the Bean/farting sequence. A movie full of moments like that is what gets on the list.

My list of movies EVERY guy could watch over and over again.

The Great Escape
Jaws
The Outlaw Josey Wales
The Magnificent Seven
Gigi (just kidding)

and

The Longest Day

Alright how about thse five:

The Three Kings
Blade
Terminator 2
Die Hard
THe Matrix

I could watch all of them many times!

I know this is for guys, but I think anything in the porn catagory would work. (At least for the guys on this sight)

LUV YOU GUYS!:D

The Longest Day?

Jeez, I don't know, Dix. Watching The Longest Day over and over is like reading Nitelight's posts. After the first 4000 or so it gets pretty boring, you know what I mean?

:)

Actually, ANY cameo movie like that is good for repeat viewing. Like "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World." Worth seeing every five years or so, because as you get older you realize that you reconize more and more people. The first time I saw it I had no idea who Jack Benny or Phil Silvers or were. But eveyr time I saw the movie again, at ages like 12 and 15 and 22 and 30, etc. it was like seeing parts of it for the first time. "Hey! That was Jerry Lewis in the car!"

My favorite cameo in that flick is during the scene when they're expecting a plane to crash, and they pan over to the rescue fire crew -- the Three Stooges. They don't say a word, but it's just hysterical to think that they're the rescue crew.
