I hope someone here can help me. I looked for a forum that had to do with fish but there was NO ONE there. I just got a bunch of plants from my mom's old tank and I was wondering what would be the best way to clean them before I put them into my tank. They were also stored in my parent's old musty moldy basement. Thanks for anyone's help.

i used to have a fish tank and am familiar with your question... the problem is that i can't remember how i was told to handle it. lol.

i THINK that soap and water is really your best friend here... don't make it harder than it has to be. wash well... and RINSE well with soap and water. the key thing is really the rinsing.

you could always check with your local fish store as well. i'm sure they'd be happy to help you.

Well they are all washed in the tank. I'm not too worried. I have 2 platies and 2 baby platies (yippy my fishes breeded) and they are very cheap to replace. I also have a huge alge eater that seems to live threw anything my bf does to that tank. Thanks guys

One more thing about aquariums. Fish do not like soap of any kind!! I really hope that you rinsed everything off with clean water. The soap can and does kill fish.

I always use plain water and table salt to clean tanks.

Just pour the salt in there, scrub it around with a scrubby and rinse well.

That doesn't scratch the tank?
