$59 million for algae growers.

$4 million for Electric motorcycle manufacturers.

$430 million is awarded to Hollywood producers to expense up to $15 million of their project costs.

$70 million in pork is designated for NASCAR.

$1 in spending cuts for every $41 in tax increases.

Less than a billion. Lets check back in a few years and see the outcome cus this is chump change that might have positive effects.

I honestly don't know which party/individual stuck these things in but it just goes to show that even in desperate times politicians don't give a crap about long term problems.

The amount of "pork" in this bill is estimated at 1%. Naturally, that causes True Believers such as yourself to shit your pants in agony.

To put things in context: If you have children and they bring home a 99 on a test paper, do you celebrate their achievement with them or do you blister their hide for not being perfect?

Hmmmm?

Hmmmm? what was the Fiscal Cliff bill designed to do? Avert the what?

Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

It was Political Pay Back for the Kool-Aid drinkers that supported Bam's re-election.

Are you really trying to make that analogy? Kids that don't make 100% on a test vs slipping in pork in a bill that tries to save the country from bankruptcy.

Please explain why any pork is acceptable in this legislation rather than so there is some pork. So what?

$563 million dollars in one-time grants? *yawn*

Nobody is backing pork. But if there's $640 billion in deficit reduction and a mere half a billion in pork, well then Washington is making amazing progress in reducing pork.

So you are you making excuses for the pork? Really, we are going bankrupt but a little pork is ok. It's ok because it could have been worse? The fact that the politician don't take the long term problems seriously is obvious. I hope we get to learn the names of the people that inserted the pork.

Absolutely no reason for it.

It was so cold today that I saw a Democrat with his hands in his OWN pockets!

It's called a compromise, silly.

Congress forced themselves into a situation where they had to DO something, and they finally attended to business. The new Congress now has to come up with a budget that will fit our revenue.

With corn and soy support prices up for cutting, how long will that Afghan conflict last? They are already figuring out what they will leave and what they have to take with them on the retreat from Kabul.

Silly Congress, to let a 100 Billion a year, plus the Black budgets, slide into the Vulture Capitalist market. Which doesn't nurture any productive end. just more killing?

One month of Afghanistan costs us more that 100 Electric Bicycle grants.

Extremism is it own penalty, just like Communism.

What? No, I'm not disproportionately concerned about some politician that accounts for 0.00000000001% of our fiscal problems. I'm not saying pork is the best way to legislate but it's a waste of energy to get all pissy over something that mathematically does not matter.

Again I ask so pork is OK? Specifically in this bill. The defense is it's OK to get an agreement or mathematically it's not important. In real life when you are broke do you have to give up something? Pick your poison. Cable tv? Smart phone with unlimited access, smoking whatever, nice vacations or whatever you don't need.

I will not accept business as usual as an an excuse. Things are changing.

You forgot to mention the welfare for corporations.

I'm sure that was just a little oversight on your part though, right?

Hey...corporate welfare by the truck load is ok and totally fiscally responsible as long as it's going to the MIC/bankers and not the citizenry. Most importantly it must not be proposed or written by someone with a (D) in front of their name/title.

To put it in prospective: If you only lost 1% of your tonnage, it wouldn't be nearly enough.

Richard Daily you are correct Sir!

I forgot General Electric and GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt. The Head Of Obama’s Jobs Council, Is Moving Jobs And Economic Infrastructure To China At A Blistering Pace.

Oh and don't forget the Obama Care Exemption that General Electric received.

GE should change its slogan to "Imagination At Work ...........................(In China)".

Democracy is an imperfect solution.

We don't live in a perfect world, and we never will.

I'll settle for 99%, but hey if you want to bitch and moan about the 1%, well, by all means indulge yourself.

Pork is a poor way to legislate in my opinion. I just think the outrage should be in proportion to the target of one's ire.

They just said on the radio that the NASCAR $46 million pork was inserted by Rep. Vern Buchannan, R-Florida after heavy lobbying by NASCAR so they could get out of that much in tax liability.

It's basically the France family, who runs NASCAR and most of the sport's speedways, and Bruton Smith, who runs speedways in Bristol TN, Charlotte NC, and others. Two families who didn't want to pay so much taxes on their millions.
