First time

So I went out today to take my mom to lunch with my collar on. This is the first time I've been to her office, and even around people I know out side the house with it on. I LOVED it! I'm finding that I miss it when I have to take it off, to sleep and shower and such. This week I'm on vacation, so I can wear it all day, but next week I go back to work and will have to go 9 hours a day with out it. The thought makes me sad. Anyway, I'm just terribly excited about my collar and the day out with it on and wanted to share with people who might understand.

i know the feeling. i enjoy wearing my Master's collar. i've worn it for just over a year, and feel odd without it.
i actually have two, one for bedtime/private-time ... and another for daytime wear which is a bit more fashionable and not at all to draw questions such as, "Is that a dog collar you are wearing"? The bedtime collar is a thick band of black leather with silver O-ring in front (Master made it). The daytime collar is a sterling silver rounded type-bar style, open in back, and a twist to either side allows for removal.
i've worn the private-time collar to a BDSM club, once for a quick trip to the store (forgot i had it on) ... once while walking our dog, and once in answering our front door. People gawk and stare. One close neighbor asked, "Wearing your dog collar today?". What else could i have said other than, "Uh, yeah. Something like that. What was it you wanted by the way?".
It's funny how on the one hand i have grown so accustomed to wearing it that i forget i even have the collar on. But, on the other hand, i never forget WHY i have it on, or the meaning behind it's symbol. If the collars suddenly disappeared tomorrow, i'd be upset as they are very important to each of us .... having sentimental value .... but even without the collars, nothing can change the fact that i am His ... nor can anything change the fact that although the collar is worn around my neck, it's impression is much deeply felt as if it encircled my heart.
Most who know me do know that the daytime collar is much more than just a necklace ... some knowing more about it, some knowing a bit less. Some i don't bother to explain it to at all, based on whether i think they can get their heads around the meaning and the type of relationship my Master and i share, as well as whether i have the time to explain it ... as well as whether i wish to.
Congrats on your collar and wearing it to lunch and stuff. Perhaps you can wear another collar for daytime that would be less likely to draw questions and stares.
