First Time Role-player needs help

Hello,

I haven't been on lit very long and I would really much like to get involved in an online role-play for fun or what ever else. But yet I really have little idea of what actually to do. I am involved in other role-play games which shouldn't be to hard to get started.

I am 18 years old in Canada just so people know. I would prefer a female around the same age, even though that is hard to find, but hell anyone would do well.

Can anyone help out the rookie here?

Don't know why you want a female around the same age but, that doesn't matter. I'm not sure what kind of advice you need so I'm going to cover a broad area.

Okay the basics, Lit is broken it many difrent forums. This is the ORP forum for online roleplaying, my understanding is this forum came after the SRP forum, the sex role playing forum. So stories here usally don't invovle sex. So if that is what you want to try go to the SRP forum and you'll have beter luck. There is also a personels section if you are looking for a pen pale, date etc.

As far as writing goes, there are a few rules. First off is don't kill some one elses character with out permision. Along the same lines is anything that criples some one elses character, and just automaticly saying your punch hit them. Also it is considered bad manners to make some one elses character to say something.

The group here is fairly freindly, so don't hesitate to ask questions and just chat online via ORP anucments or a similar thread.

I've seen a wide range of idea's done. From unique plots, to stereo types, to playing with mechanics of a thread. So you can throw any thread out there, and it has a fair chance. There are some things that may help. Such as geting to know otehr writers, if they recanise your name, they are more likely to be curious about your plot ideas. Or a good title tends to be a very good draw as well.

Be pateint, and stick around. The longer our here the mroe fun it tends to be.

Make sure you ask to join the thread, either by sending a tell to the thead leader (origional poster) or posting in the "OOC" thread. Means Out of Character.
Welcome, btw. Most questions you can ask either in the pillow pit, the announcement thread, or in the OOC thread for the story you're wanting to join.

If you want a sexual story head for the SRP. The ORP occasionaly, on a case by case basis, does use sex as part of a story line, but its very tastefully done and without any real details.
You want details- hit the SRP.

And ages don't really make a difference in here. Some of the ORP regulars are collage kids, others have three kids and a spouse, and other still are something all together different.
I don't even know the exact age of most of the ppl I like to post with, doesn't matter. Thier originality and ability to write are what count here, not age or gender.

I offer my aid in brain storming, and if you need advice go ahead and let me know and I'll be willing to help. How ever I'm going to be gone on the 6th of june until the middle of July. Back each week end when I may or may not post.
