I'm so happy right now! It could have been so much better if my editor didn't disappear so now I'm looking for a new one for part two! I'm going to be riding this high all day!

How did it feel when you guys got your first story up?

Yes, editors...sigh.

It was great once I got a feel for how formatting should work and clearing a few technicalities to get past "rejected".

I started writing for GFs, then horny platonic GFs. Whether it is enjoyed or not, the exhibitionist in me likes to share that part of my mind.

It was so long ago that I don't remember . . . .

:p

Posting to Lit was a new experience for me eight years ago. The idea of nearly-instant feedback was both thrilling and daunting. I had enough confidence in my writing to anticipate more good than bad comments, and I was right, but actually seeing them within hours of the story posting was a pretty cool thrill.

I would advise against giving into the obsession of repeatedly checking the votes, score and reads that seems to come with the posting of a new story. It can be aggravating. But I suspect you're going to check them often anyway. We all do ;)

Butterflies, fear, excitement, terror.

I have yet to find an editor. (Sigh).

My first few stories performed well before I tried an experimental piece which got killed. The comments were scathing. I struggled with how to receive that because I really liked the story.

BTW, congratulations on your first.

Someone convinced me to post a story here just months after I began to write. I was terrified and wanted to disappear. The feedback surprised me so much that I stayed and learned how to write.

Congrats, BTW.

Thank all! I'm resisting checking it and instead focusing all my energy on getting an editor... but I really want to check again!

Congrats to you, Noye.

Best advice I can give you, is grow a thick skin. And DON'T write to impress the audience, write because you want to - you'll get more out of it. :)

As an aside, like the Origin story. Don't know if you are into that stuff, but reminds me vaguely of Wearing the Cape. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Good thing I was born with thick skin! Thanks to the both of you as well, with finals all week this has been a breath of fresh air!

I was excited, up until then only my wife had read my stories.

Congrats and enjoy that "New story smell!"

Talking with all you old pros is so cool, seriously this has been an awesome week talking with all of you! I'm probably going to be absent for awhile so I can finish all ten parts while I work with an editor and devote all my time into doing that before returning to school. Just wanted everyone who read this, talked with me, or read my first work to know how much I really appreciated your time! See you all as soon as part two is up!
