First "REAL" dinner in my new lair...

Been here two weeks, finally got everything unpacked, put away, all the moving fees paid, and today was payday.

So. A trip to target for some cookery and a trip to Kroger for something to test it on and a nice bottle of wine to celebrate with:

Salmon fillet grilled with lemon butter and fresh ground (coarse) black pepper, Mixed veggies (Carrots, broccoli, cauliflower) and some large curd caottage cheese, and a bottle of Jacob's Creek Riesling.

A very satisfying meal indeed.

So what do you fix for a special occaission?

Grats Dran. I had chicken Kiev :)

That sounds delicious, Dranoel. I'm very fond of salmon.

What do I cook for a special occasion? Hmm. The SO and I both love lamb, so lamb roast is a favorite; we do it with garlic and rosemary and make roast potatoes and broccoli or green beans. If we want something lighter, there's a chili-saffron shrimp and rice dish we're very fond of. In warm weather, sometimes I'll marinate some good steaks in wine, garlic, black pepper, fresh rosemary, and basil, then grill them over charcoal and serve them with garlic sauteed spinach and some angelhair with basil, olive oil, butter, and cheese.

Tonight, however - Chunky Monkey and pizza. ;) I've got the place to myself.

And here I was thinking you would make chicken & dumplings. ;)

I haven't had supper.....or lunch or breakfast, now that I think about it.

That sounds pretty good, too. Might have to do that on Sunday. Though I'll have to do a makeshift grill.

Grills are lovely forgiving things. All you really need is some bricks and an oven rack. Enjoy the dinner. :)
