Hi everyone, my name is Sherman, and I'm an alcoholic. Mainly because my parents are cruel and named me Sherman when my last name is already Mann. Thats not a handle, thats me.
Anyway, I'd like to get to know some of you. I'd really like to get to know some ladies, but I'll settle for some introductions for now.
I live in the Sacramento area of Northern California. I'm currently a grad-student at CSUS part-time. My full-time occupation is that of a counselor. I'm new to the area (from New Hampshire), and have never been too good at meeting people. Makes people wonder why I'm a counselor. I still don't know how I got this job. I wanted to be an archaeologist. Actually, when I was real little I wanted to be an astronaut. Still a love for history and biology in elementary and high school made archaeology seem natural for me in college. Actually, I started off as an English major, but there wasn't enough science in it for me.
Yes, I am still a big time nerd. I'm also incredibly unattractive. I wouldn't say ugly. I mean, I won't crack a mirror or anything. I'm just not much of a wonderful physical specimen. I'm 22 (will be 23 in August) years old, 5'9" tall, 230 lbs, had blonde hair as a kid, seems brown now, green eyes (my only redeeming feature), caucasian (Irish, Sicilian, German, Scottish, English, Jamaican). OK, how can I be Jamaican and caucasian I know somebody out there is wondering. Turns out that until 1750 or so, it was legal for the English to sell Irish as slaves here in the New World. In fact, there's still some island in the carribean that is totally black population which speaks Irish Gaelic. Oh well, physically, I'm not much.
As far as personality, I'm an introvert. I like to think I got a good sense of humor, but some people say I can be mean when drunk. Some people say I get funnier, and certainly more extroverted. So it all depends on perspective, I suppose. Just because we're all supposed to idealize someone who is thin, a bit of thick skin may be required to put up with me. Which gets me to a slight problem of mine, yes I do tend to drink a lot. You're still wondering how the hell I can be a counselor, I know. I'm very professional at work, but in my spare time (that isn't spent nose in a book) I like to bust loose. But I am getting pretty lonely. And I had enough drunken relationships in college so I'm trying not to solve ALL my problems with liquor. Only most of them.
I also smoke cigarettes and an occasional cigar.
Other than alcohol, nicotine, and caffiene I refrain from drug use and I prefer not to be around those who do anything more than these. Nothing personal, but quitting marijuana in college was very difficult for me, but I had to as I was turning into a retard while I had a thesis to do. I don't regret my decision, but I'd rather avoid temptation.
Other bad habits (endearing or enduring qualities, your pick) include cracking knuckles and growing out my beard to obnoxious lengths. Hey, at least its not serial murderer or psychotic fixation on the number 72. 71 on the other hand... OK, yeah, bad jokes are another nasty habit.
I do have some good qualities and hobbies. I'm a martial artist. I've studied Tae Kwon Do fairly intensely, but have also had some training in Shao Lin Kung Fu, Tai-Chi Ch'uan, Kendo, American Kickboxing, and Pentjak Kilat Silat. Not enough to be impressive at doing anything, just enough so that I won't get my butt kicked by most normal people in a fair fight (which I'd rather run away from, I actually hate violence). I'm an amateur astronomer (I STILL want to be an astronaut, damnit). I'm a fairly decent whiskey taster (even got a note commemorating my skill through the Jameson Distillery in Dublin, Ireland). I like kids (I kinda have to, they're my primary clients). I don't want any kids of my own just yet, but I like them. I like to read a lot. I like old movies, especially Humphrey Bogart flicks.
Well, I don't want to spill all my guts or else we may have nothing to talk about. My overall goal would be to get in a relationship, but I've been dry for almost a year now, I just need to get laid. 100% disease free and would prefer to stay that way. Leave a message or email me (I think I set this thing to public email address, if not its shermanmann@yahoo.com, not too difficult). Love to start hearing from some lovely ladies soon.
