I ma at work and this machine uses Windows XP.

When Firefox upgrades to version 3.4 or newer it says it can't connect to a proxy server, and won't connect to any pages. I don't use a proxy server here at work (or anywhere for that matter), I don't have anything set to use a proxy server, and I have no idea how it got the idea to even look for one.

How do I fix this? I can't find anything, and am tired of using older versions of the software to be able to connect to anything.

Got to Tools, options, Under advanced, choose the Network Tab and set it to use system settings for proxie.

Or better yet, go to downloads.com and do a fresh install of 4.6.

Mine did that recently, like it got hijacked. I went to the settings tx mentioned and set it to 'no proxy' and that fixed it.

I tried a fresh install (it's only at 3.6, isn't it?) and it didn't work.

But the other bit did. Thank you. I don't know why I couldn't find that on my own.

Sorry for the typo. 3.6 is the latest version and I'm glad the settings change worked.
