I've watched the Firefly episodes and really enjoy the style and flavor, not to mention the interesting and well played characters. I was wondering if anyone was interested in playing a cast of characters in this setting?

I was thinking that we wouldn't be THE characters of Firefly or even on the ship Serenity, but instead on a different ship with a different cast of the odds and ends from all over the 'Verse.

Also, I'm not interested in being the Game Master, because I have a lot on my plate at the moment, but am still interested to know if this thread would go any where.

One more thing: I've looked at the system for the Firefly RPG, and do not like it. If played, this game would run much better under the White Wolf rule system. It of course wouldn't have any of the super powers like in Vampire or Werewolf, but the simple dice system would be cool. It also make the game much less about luck than hitting that roll of 24 on 2d12 to do something amazing.

i love firefly, and maybe willing to GM it, but i dont like dice systems for message board rping.

Dice roll? For an Online RPG? You've got to be kidding. In order for that to work, you have to rely on people's honesty. You can see the problem in that. Besides, leave the dice roll crap for Pen and Paper RPGs.

Still a Greenhorn

*shrug* alright.

I'm new to playing an RPG over the internet and on this forum. I've read the
rules for the forum. Still a little confused over how one progresses the plot or decides how effective an action is.

Also, how many people are required and how often does posting happen?

Take a look at possibly the most successful RPG on this board, Illusion Vale. Then look at Dragons and Magic II: Hunt for Dreamweaver. Both RPGs don't use dice, but the story moves all the same. It's up to the GM to keep things moving.

At least one other person is required to play, aside from the GM, but the more the marrier. And posting takes place however often the posters can post.

I play a free style Serenity game in another forum, but started my RP online right here on good ol' Lit. If you feel the need for dice, however, you can go to Plothook.net which has built in dice rollers into the board.

I'd like to play, love Firefly, but I've never played with the dice before.... I'm much more for the writing and planning aspect of it myself but it could be fun... Um... So are you planning on continuing this or no?
