Fire in Babylon

Warning: a smoking rant

A month ago, a small ventilator we use at night stopped working. When we tried to turn it on again, it caught fire.

Last week I burn my arm in hot oil while cooking past 10 pm. I was just too tired and it happened. Now I have a 1X2 inches red splotch on my arm, which I will probably get rid of it without a scar. This time.

This morning, we were taking care of the fishes, and I decided for no reason to goto the kitchen. Just as I entered, I felt the most fleeting smell of burning. I thought the gas had run out (I have such a fear of gas running out and CO building up and stuff). When I could not identify the source of it, I asked the warrior to look.

Next thing is "Oh my GOd", "Turn the mains off", and the entire house is filled with smoke. It would have been a really bad fire, had I not walked into the kitchen at that precise moment.

Now what? Have we got fire elves or something???!!!!!???

We put a lot of money in the electric infrastructure of the house, but what worth is it, if all electric equipment is of such shoddy quality?

I am SO sorry.

I noticed one of my fire imps had gone missing recently, and I just haven't been able to locate him. Erm. Thank you for finding him. I need to get him back in his little lava pit with the rest of them.

They get a bit of a head about them if one escapes ya know!

I'm sorry he caused you so much trouble!

For a short period in my entire life I had to live with gas appliances. The sucked. I've always perfered electric. At least when they go tits-up, they just don't work and don't catch fire.

As far as quality of electric appliances, the price you pay has nothing much to do with quality. They are all pretty much standard low-quality. The high priced items just have fancier buttons. :D

Thanks all

And we constantly leave it working at night. Ok I am traumatized now!
