finely crafted little gem. "Natasha" (Nabokov)

Hey, anyone know any new info about The Original of Laura? It was supposed to be published this year, has it? Nabokov wanted it destroyed, I don't see why it wouldn't be interesting to read, a novel in progress.

Edit: I just preordered it at amazon, it comes out Nov 17. Strange how information travels.

Gogol and Flaubert would probably lose their sh*t if they knew the second parts of Dead Souls and Bouvard were being put out with their life's work.

"Original" is only about 50 pp., and apparently rather incomplete. I guess it's for the true scholars who want to see 'work in progress'. it only exists on a hundred or so index cards; N would put such cards in desired order before the final draft.

come on people

a well crafted story by a famous author.

can't anyone be bothered to read it.?

is this solely a forum for debating whether the 'gubmint' is evil.?

I'll talk to you about it, what is your starting point? I love Nabokov, even if he does describe butteflies and chess situations in everything he writes. I don't like butterflies, chess, skippers, or moths. I got the complete New Yorker, I've been reading a bunch of short stories, I'm not really big on short stories.
